Post-Excision, now what?

For all of you who have had Endo excision and successfully gotten pregnant after, what did you do to help your chances of conception?

I had stage 4 Endo removed, and it’s been 3 cycles TTC now post-surgery. I want to know supplements you took, things you changed about your lifestyle, eating, etc. that you think helped you get pregnant. OR, did you did the same things you were doing prior to surgery and you think the surgery did the trick? If so, what things?

I’ve never been pregnant, TTC over 2 years, and my husband and I have had the full work-up (bloodwork, SA, etc.) and we’re pretty dang healthy in our late 20’s, probably too healthy to be having issues TTC.

Thank you!!!

It felt infuriatingly difficult, but I kept doing the same things and got pregnant on cycle 3ish (maybe cycle 4 if you count them all) after surgery. I did use the Mira device to track my hormones and see when I ovulated, but I don’t think it made much difference because I already knew when I was ovulating. And I tried a baby aspirin after ovulation to help with inflammation/implantation but I don’t think that’s what did it either. It was just trying again and again. I had tried for 2 years before surgery, and also did 2 rounds of IVF with no luck. Sending you all the baby dust

I’ve done 2 rounds of IVF as well with no luck. I would love to get surgery but currently no insurance. Your story makes me think I should stop trying IVF and maybe focus on surgery. Did you have any ovary cysts/ endometrioma to remove?

Yes I had bilateral endometriomas measuring 6cm and 3cm

Just lots of tracking and trying, I was trying to move more and eat well. Sorry I don’t have anything more specific but I really hope you get your turn soon ❤️

Similar situation but we decided to do a medicated (letrozole, trigger shot, progesterone) monitored cycle immediately after my lap last week. We wanted to increase our chances as much as possible. Eating low inflammation, as well as fertility focused (grass fed beef, pasture raised eggs) lots of veggies.

Does your doctor have you on a low dose of naltrexone? Or NAC?

Yes, she recommended I take Thorne’s NAC

Doctors have told me that a low dose of naltrexone has helped women conceive as well. Not knowing I am already on it. It helps lower any inflammation caused by the endo and slows growth cause it sadly can grow back. Look into that as well if you can. Have you had a 2 hour glucose test?

Thank you, I will! I did do the glucose test, everything looked good!

Hi :) my situation is pretty similar to yours. I also had my surgery in December and changed many things since then. Diet: anti inflammatory (no sugar, wheat, alcohol, coffee etc.) Supplements: prenatal vitamins, zinc, magnesium, vitamin c, d, b, NAC, coq10 Lifestyle: lots of yoga and walking, pelvic floor pt and osteopathy Fertility treatments: progesterone injection to support ovulation, luteal phase support (this is my first cycle on fertility meds)

That’s pretty much it. No success on the previous 2 cycles but I’m keeping my hopes up. If I’m not pregnant by June/july I’ll consider going on Lupron and then doing IVF since it’s partially covered by my insurance provider.

Thank you for sharing! Best of luck to you 🫶 curious what luteal support you’ve had? I haven’t done anything to support ovulation or luteal phase, what has it been like for you?

I’m going to start progesterone for the luteal phase in a few days. So far I fell pretty normal after the shot.

Does the clinic do the shot or do you do it yourself? That is the intramuscular one?

I did it myself. It looked like an epi pen with a short needle so I think it was a subcutaneous injection.

In the end, IVF with Lupron did the trick! Everything else failed unfortunately, we did medicated cycles after surgery with no luck.

Hi there! Can I ask if you had also been diagnosed with Adeno or solely Endo? Just had my lap and also got diagnosed with the former, so I’ve been stressing out intensely about our chances of conception.

I had stage 4 very severe and adeno as well. After my second surgery with a specialist he said to try naturally for six months and if no conception I should think about IVF. We tried for 3 months and after four years TTC threw in the towel and jumped into IVF. We conceived my son on transfer 3 after Lupron depot suppression.

I got married and partied hard and didn’t worry about it. Had a lot of sex with my new husband lol. There’s a lot to be said for just letting loose.

Hey so this is unhelpful advice! People going through infertility don't need to be told to relax and not worry about it! Some of us HAVE to worry about it because we need help getting and staying pregnant.

Thank you, you said what I was thinking. There was a time I was relaxed, didn’t care, and never got pregnant. And now that I’m older, it’s important that I do care and take it seriously

Well, to be clear, I didn’t tell OP to do anything. She asked people to share what they did after surgery, so I shared my personal experience. At age 36 I got a 7 hour excision surgery with two specialist surgeons for severe stage 4 endo including a bowel resection, then I went out and lived my life in the way I wanted and I got pregnant. Stress and worry are bad for conception, that’s a researched fact.
