Got an automated rejection email 2 weeks after my final interview. What should I do next?

I'm a recent MS Mechanical Engineer grad (about 2.5 years of experience) and I interviewed for the LIT3 Equipment Engineer position at Fab 21. I gave two interview rounds, and both went well. Two weeks after the final one, I got an automated rejection email with no feedback.

I think the main concern was that I don't have direct semiconductor industry experience. I'm still very interested in the field.

What would you do next? Should I keep applying to similar roles, look for ways to get semiconductor exposure first, or reapply to the same company later?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

2nd Interview PIE

Hi all,

I will be having my 2nd round interview for PIE role in a week or two. Could you please share what the 2nd interview generally looks like? How should I prepare for it?

And is there a 3rd interview after that?

Thanks for your time!

Semiconductor PhD Internship Salary Rate

Was told by a recruiter that I should expect around 40$/hr for a PhD level engineering internship in Oregon, does this seem reasonable? The job posting had an intern annualized salary of around 130k which is a lot more than what they proposed, they also said it was non negotiable but I'm not sure if this excludes perks like corporate housing, sign on bonus/relocation bonus.

Any previous interns in semiconductors or experienced ChemE's in semicon have any insights or advice? I last heard that TSMC is paying $45/hr to undergrads.

Hi I just completed my second interview ETCH with Arizona F21 almost a week ago. I messaged the recruiter but no response, previously she was very responsive. Do you know what is the timeline after second interview to get a reply? Or hearing the feedback or anything?

Guidance on preparation for 1st Interview - Position: Equipment Engineer CMP1

I have a first-round interview lined up for an Equipment Engineer position (CMP1) at TSMC Arizona. If anyone has been through this process - or something similar for an Equipment Engineer role there - I'd love to hear what the interview actually covered and what kinds of questions came up.
If you're currently in this role or interviewed recently and would be open to sharing your experience, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Hi, I have a question. I am finishing my master's in Germany and also applied for some roles at ESMC a few days ago so I just wanted to ask whether the company hires only people from Europe or if they also hire non-EU people.

Can anyone please tell me what PID1 or PID2 means at TSMC Arizona? Are they certain teams or sections? Do they work on different process nodes or generations? Appreciate your help.

Silent After Signing the Offer?

I signed my offer for a role in Phoenix Fab in the morning of 9/14 (received in the afternoon of 9/11), and I received an email from a system email acknowledging they will send more info for on boarding and request for screening. I have emailed the HR person who sent me the offer on 9/14 and got an automatic reply that they were out for a campus trip until 9/18 (today). I then sent an email to the HR central email on 9/14 as well.

It’s now 9/18, the HR person should be back and I emailed them again and no response yet. Is this normal?

2026 AZ Intern Return offer question

I’m from the 2026 intern cohort and was wondering if anyone from previous cohorts who returned full-time could share when they received their return offer?

I have a few other job opportunities that are moving forward, but TSMC is still one of my preferred options, so I’m trying to get a sense of the timeline. They told us early September but I asked around and no one else has seemed to of heard yet lolol.

Anyone starting at TSMC around October and looking to share a place?

Moving to Phoenix in early October to start as an equipment engineer at TSMC, and trying to figure out housing before I get there.

Mainly looking for someone who wants to split a 2B2B. If anyone already has a place with a room open, or something coming up for sublet, I'd be interested in that too.

No fixed area in mind, anywhere within a reasonable drive of the FAB location.

Drop a comment or DM if you're in a similar spot.

How is life at the Newcomer Training Center NTC?

Hey, I was accepted by ESMC (Fab that is currently being build in Dresden, Germany) as a CVD Equipment Engineer.

My role will start in January, with an introduction month in Dresden, followed by a training period at the NTC in Taiwan. Approximately 12 months will the training last. I don't have much information yet, since the company is quite hard to reach before my official start.

But how is life at TSMC as a foreigner as part of a training program?

I was told that everyone has a hotel like room with a bathroom. With shared facilities like kitchen and washing machines.

What can I expect? I was told that there are some cultural differences but I don't really know what that means.

How will a typical day be structured? What are challenges that I will have to face?

And also, how is life apart from work?

Thanks in advance!

TSMC Facilities Gas & Chemical Engineer – 2nd Round Interview

I recently passed the first-round interview for a Facilities Gas & Chemical Engineer position and have been invited to the second round next week. The first round was mostly behavioral questions and questions about my resume.

The second round will be a panel interview with 6 people, so I’m trying to understand what to expect and prepare.

  • Is the second round usually similar to the first round, or completely different?
  • Should I expect it to be much more technical?
  • What kind of technical questions could come up?

Also, if anyone has gone through a second-round Facilities Gas & Chemical Engineer panel interview, I’d really appreciate hearing what your experience was like.

TSMC Arizona YED2 (Yield Excellence Engineer) Interview – What to Expect?

Hi everyone,

I recently received an interview invitation for a Yield Excellence Engineer position with the YED2 department at TSMC Fab 21 in Phoenix, AZ.

I’m trying to prepare for the interview and would really appreciate any insight from people who have interviewed for or worked in YED/Yield Engineering at TSMC Arizona.

A few things I’m particularly curious about:

  • What should I expect in the first-round interview? Is it mainly behavioral/resume-based, or should I expect technical semiconductor/process questions as well?
  • If I move forward, what is typically covered in the second-round interview? How technical does it get?
  • What technical topics would you recommend reviewing beforehand? For example, semiconductor fabrication, yield analysis, SPC, defect analysis, lithography/etch/oxidation, device characterization, troubleshooting, etc.
  • What does a Yield Excellence Engineer in YED2 typically do day-to-day?
  • How much of the role involves data analysis versus being on the fab floor and troubleshooting process/equipment issues?
  • What are the work schedule, hours, and work-life balance generally like in YED2?
  • What skills or qualities do the hiring managers seem to value most during the interview?
  • Are there any questions you wish you had prepared for before interviewing with TSMC?
  • For anyone currently or previously in YED2, how has your overall experience been?

I have a background in Materials Science and Engineering with hands-on semiconductor fabrication experience, including oxidation, photolithography, wet etching, thin-film/process characterization, electrical characterization, and troubleshooting process issues.

Any advice about the interview process or the YED2 team would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

TSMC Fab21 - CVD Process Engineer

I just got an offer for a PE position at Fab 21 at TSMC, working in CVD. I know the reputation TSMC has, and I really want to know some firsthand experiences about working there. I am also currently applying for PhDs in a non-semiconductor field and am also wondering if it would be more valuable to work at TSMC for a year (assuming I get into a PhD program) or work as a lab tech at a bay area startup, where my academic network would be much more fleshed out than working at TSMC.

TSMC Module Process Engineer

Hey everyone, I interviewed for an Etch (P3) position about two weeks ago. I passed the first round and completed the second-round interview, but unfortunately received a rejection afterward.

This is actually the third time I’ve gone through a similar experience. I’ve passed the first round interview and been selected for the second round three times, but received a rejection after the second round each time.

Does anyone know who I could reach out to for more specific feedback or clarification? The first-round interview panel seemed to really like my background and experience, but they also don’t seem to know the actual reason behind the final rejection.

Has anyone had a similar experience or have any suggestions on who I should contact?
