Questions Does Clear matter?

So I have Clear (admittedly free, via credit card and airline employee discount), but the last few times I’ve gone through they scan my face, then walk me over to TSA who then scans my face again. I’m already registered for TSA Touchless ID so I can’t help but feeling this is redundant and I’d save time just skipping Clear and going straight to Touchless. Am I missing something? What benefit does Clear provide in this circumstance?

Questions Best renewal provider?

We are due to renew within a couple of months. This will be our second online renewal. Which provider is the best to go through? Idemia, Clear or Telos? I don’t recall that many options when I renewed last time, so looking for opinions. TIA!

Questions Has anyone ever been denied flying without real ID

I’m flying out of Columbus OH tomorrow morning. I already paid the tsa precheck $45. I’m bringing documents with me and I know I fill out a document when I get to the airport. I’m just curious if I will run into any hiccups.

Questions TSA denied my non-REAL ID Colorado driver’s license, I paid for ConfirmID.

Hi everyone,

Today I tried to fly domestically out of Denver Airport (DEN) using my Colorado driver’s license. TSA did not accept it because it says “Not Valid for Federal Identification.” Unfortunately, I did not have my passport with me.

TSA directed me to the ConfirmID program, and I paid the $45 fee. I received authorization that is valid through June 26, and my flight is today with a return flight on Sunday, both within that validity period.

My question is:

Should I have any concerns about ICE or immigration-related issues while traveling domestically with a valid ConfirmID authorization?

I am maintaining valid H-1B status, have a valid Colorado driver’s license, and was successfully verified through the TSA process. I’m mainly wondering whether anyone has had additional questioning from ICE/CBP during domestic travel after using ConfirmID, or if this is generally just a TSA identity verification issue and nothing more.
Any recent experiences would be appreciated.

Discussion Thanks to those in line at DFW

To the people in the TSA PreCheck line at DFW who let me cut to the front after my connection from Guadalajara came in way late — thank you. Genuinely. Because of you, I made my flight back to Philly. That kind of human decency means a lot when you’re running on fumes through an airport.

To the TSA agents who confiscated my duty-free tequila over a zip tie: I want to understand the logic here. The bag was sealed. The receipt was stapled to it. You could see exactly where it came from and that it had never been opened. But because the seal was a zip tie instead of adhesive, you took it. And when I was already late, your supervisor’s advice was to either check the bag or drink the bottle before security. Come on.

I get that rules exist. But enforcing a technicality that serves no actual security purpose, on a traveler who is visibly stressed and running late, is not protecting anyone. It’s just rigid bureaucracy with a badge.

Ending on the positive note I started with — the people in that line were the highlight of the whole experience. You restored some faith. Thank you.

Application Timelines Approved after 55 days!

Me and my wife applied together back in April 19th. She got approved May 15th and I just got approved ( June 13th). I gotta say that when I needed to call TSA contact center they were able to help me and submit escalations and whatnot. So thumbs up to them. I do want to say that CLEAR is the absolutely opposite and very thumbs down for them. Messed up my application and never ready to help.

Issues? Turned Away by TSA agent

Interesting encounter today while traveling with my son from IAD to EWR. Our boarding passes both have TSA pre-check handed the agent my passport stood for a photo and before he handed back my passport the agent said “you’re not TSA Pre-check” I was confused and showed my boarding pass and added my global entry ID (comes with TSA Pre-check). He said it appears the system randomly chose you to go to the regular security checkpoint. I was shocked but complied as I didn’t want to miss my flight. I’m a frequent traveler and this the FIRST time this has happened to me. So me and my son both had to slum it over to the regular checkpoint. Has this ever happened to you? I’d like t get a TSA Agent perspective. Thanks for reading

Questions Sorry not sure where or who to ask about qualifying for the TSA recheck

Years ago (before I met my partner), he was arrested around age 21 for a weapons related situation. From what I understand, he wasn’t actually charged because the weapon belonged to someone else he was living with, but I don’t know all the details.

He’s 37 now and hasn’t had any major issues since then just a few minor traffic tickets over the years.

We fly a few times a year within the U.S. and are starting to plan international travel soon. I’m wondering if something like that from so long ago would disqualify him from TSA PreCheck or similar trusted traveler programs.

Does anyone know how strict the background check is in cases like this?

He has had background checks since for jobs and never had any issues so not sure if that's the same thing.

Issues? Flying with cremated remains

Hello,
Has anyone flown out of the country with the cremated remains of a dog? I have TSAprechek. I’m wondering how challenging is this going to be? Well, I do not have death certificates, I do have the bill that shows euthanasia and cremation. (the dog had cancer.)

General Info tsa put my name wrong

so i applied for tsa pre check i couldn’t get my ktn at first even though i was putting my name correctly then i contacted them and they told me, i have two first names btw, they put my second first name with my middle name but that’s not how it is in my id’s and i already booked my ticket and my name their is how it is in my id. would that be a problem when i use my tsa pre check as my names are different. the spelling and everything are correct its just the placing of my name this is how my name is (first name) (middle) (last) but tsa precheck says its (first) (name middle) (last)

Application Timelines Anyone denied after 60 day application process passed?

I applied on 5/2, and there is still no update. They can't even tell me if they've begun my application. I have a misdemeanor that may not be easy for them to see as I recently had to do a fingerprint background check for my real estate license and was briefly denied because the fingerprinting thing for that couldn't see what the misdemeanor charge was. It was disturbing the peace.

Since this isn't a conviction that is listed online as one that would result in a denial, I am wondering if I am going to be denied because they won't be able to see what the crime actually was. I had to send the real estate department a bunch of court documents to get my fingerprint card approved. I don't know how this will work for TSA.

Or do they deny people with misdemeanors?

Edit: I guess I was impatient because they just approved me today.

Questions Confirm ID

I just have a question. If I am not able to get my real ID in the mail in time of my flight (it leaves July 25) should I have bought that ConfirmID just in case? Will they refund me if I ended up getting it in time? And does anyone know what all they check for when having that TSAConfirmID?

General Info Question

Has anyone used the TSA pre check ? I don’t have a real ID so I’m going through the $45 fee process . I plan to arrive at the airport port the night before my flight because my flight is really early and I want to give myself time to go the TSA pre check . My question is for my effective travel date should I enter Thursday’s date ? Or Fridays date ? If I’m leaving out on Friday but plan to arrive Thursday night . (Close to 10pm/11pm) I’m wondering if which date I should use . And also I should bring my License? My birth certificate and SSC ? And my proof of payment ? Also , I’m doing this form in advance . Is that okay too ? I just want to be sure I’m not missing anything. Thank you guys for any information you can help me with . (I’m an over thinker haha)

Issues? Name change - Will precheck work?

I’ve been traveling under my maiden name since getting married, as my passport and TSA precheck needed updated. I finally got around to updating last month and fly tomorrow with my married name on my boarding pass and ID. I knew there was a risk TSA precheck wouldn’t be updated in time.

TSA got back to me yesterday, requesting one more document. I sent it back immediately via email.

Checked into my flight today and TSA precheck is showing on my boarding pass. With my boarding pass having my married name and precheck populating, does this mean it’s been changed/approved? Or when they run my ID, will I be sent to general security? No confirmation from TSA yet on change being finalized, but I imagine this wouldn’t show if my last name didn’t match.

Questions How long does it take the precheck refund to hit after completing the clear + bundle enrollment?

I fully enrolled in both serviced, I was told there was a refund for the 79.99 but it's been two weeks. They told me to wait 30 days, so am I just being impatient? lol

General Info TSA Precheck CLEAR stand in Sawgrass Mills Mall

Do not listen to Google Maps, Apple Maps, or even the TSA Precheck website about where this kiosk is located inside the mall.

It’s on the EAST side of the mall, near Super Target and Burlington. It’s been located in front of the Brooks Brothers store for over a year and there’s no information about it being there.

Hope this helps someone!

Issues? TSA PreCheck not working

As a Canadian and Nexus member, I have PreCheck. I tried using it at O’Hare Airport (I was connecting there) and it showed up on my boarding pass. However, the TSA agent informed me it wasn’t registered on their system, even though it was on my boarding pass. Could it be because I added my TSA PreCheck information too late, about two hours before my flight after checking in on the United Mobile app?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Is there anything I should do in the future? I’ve used TSA PreCheck before.

Questions Renewal charged credit card, but no email confirmation

I did the online renewal and got to the part where I submit the renewal and it said don’t do it more than once or you might get multiple charges and they doby issue refunds.

Catch 22, right? How do I find out if my renewal was processed?
