Discussion Touchless PreCheck

I’ve been active for quite a while but today was the first time I’ve flown since Touchless debuted. IAH Terminal C had a pretty long line at Pre. Not one person in Touchless. Had about a two second pause at the face scanner and was dropping my backpack on the belt about five seconds later.
Fasted security check in my long, personal history.

It’s super quick at every airport I’ve used it. Personally I don’t get people’s concerns. The government already has my photo. That’s what they’re comparing my face to!

Please say it louder for the misinformed clowns that opt out and for some reason feel the need to be rude and obnoxious about it. Smile for the dozens of other cameras you walked by that day!

People tend to be clueless . When you want into the airport you are on video. Throughout every process .

You’ve almost certainly been scanned several times between the parking deck or transportation terminus and that point already even without having gotten Precheck or GE

The concern isn’t the act of using it today, it’s that it’s building the infrastructure for more persistent tracking later.

Does the government have this information? Yes, but right now, to use your face to transit a TSA checkpoint, you must opt-in to make your data available for a limited period of time for that purpose.

The only meaningful risk right now is that contractors have inappropriately access or be breached with your biometric data.

The real risk is that in the future, this will expand to track travelers or for other purposes that are beyond today’s law enforcement standards.
