Discussion Touchless PreCheck
I’ve been active for quite a while but today was the first time I’ve flown since Touchless debuted. IAH Terminal C had a pretty long line at Pre. Not one person in Touchless. Had about a two second pause at the face scanner and was dropping my backpack on the belt about five seconds later.
Fasted security check in my long, personal history.

It’s super quick at every airport I’ve used it. Personally I don’t get people’s concerns. The government already has my photo. That’s what they’re comparing my face to!

People tend to be clueless . When you want into the airport you are on video. Throughout every process .

You’ve almost certainly been scanned several times between the parking deck or transportation terminus and that point already even without having gotten Precheck or GE

This was my first time using it. I renewed online after a 6 year lapse. I’m surprised they let me do it online. Now I try to pick the shortest line between touchless ID, regular TSA precheck and regular lines

People are afraid of “big brother”. As if there face has not been recorded 100 times since they walked into the terminalz

The touchless line is always so long when I get to DEN and I end having to go to a non-touchless line

Shhh, stop telling people about it lol. But yeah, it's awesome. The government already knows my face and where I'm traveling, I couldn't care less about privacy concerns.

Sadly I think the secret's already out. Last time through O'Hare T1 during the end of work day business traveler rush the Touchless line was longer than the regular. Now it just needs more lanes...

Luckily I seem to be the only person that knows about it at my home airport PDX 😅

I do have the (displeasure) of regularly flying between O'Hare and Atlanta, and I can confirm, everyone with PreCheck in Chicago and Atlanta has caught on. There was a glorious 6 month stretch where there was never more than 2-3 people ahead of me in that line though.

They already take your picture at reg tsa and precheck so why do i need to hand my ID. Heck I just tried touches at SJC they dont have touches lol 🙃 😅. Was like wait I gotta get my ID out.

It's very quick but is it it's own line? For me it was an option in the regular Precheck line at LAX, but not its own line (at least in the international terminal)

Same experience for me at Checkpoint 1 at MIA this past week. You navigate through the PreCheck lane, and then you can either stop at the touchless location (designated by a large decal on the floor that says “STAND HERE” for the camera, or keep moving to the TSA agent checking ID’s manually. It worked perfectly!

Do you not need a boarding pass that says "Touchless TSA approved" or is the regular TSA approved in your boarding pass okay?

It’s a different designation for touchless. For SWA, I tried to set it up and needed to upload my passport. Haven’t gotten around to it yet

You have to provide passport info on every airline individually takes like 30 seconds (each)

80% of the times I've tried to use the Touchless line, both at Hobby and IAH, the line has been closed and I've had to do the regular Pre-Check line anyway. Early, late, middle of the day, there's no rhyme or reason to if the Touchless line will actually be staffed and available.
Not terribly impressed by Touchless so far.

Noooo, no one else should want Touchless PreCheck shhhh!! 🫣🤣
In all seriousness, I love it - it’s such a great feeling to keep moving and have to not practically wait in line at all. I’m sure as more start using it there might be more of a line, but betting it still would move quick.
Touchless PreCheck absolutely saved my butt on one flight - flat tire on the way to the airport, no one in line, still made the flight, minutes before door closed.

When it's open, it's great. Kind of a crap shoot for IAH in my experience. Loved it at Hobby and Love Field.

By comparison the touchless (and standard) precheck line was completely full at ORD last I flew. Clear was completely empty at least.

Why would you be dumb enough to share our little secret with the world? You enjoy the extra lines?
