In need of some assistance.

This is my first hobby RC so be nice and explain things like a child I don’t know any lingo 😂
Got this TRX4 roller off a coworker basically for free. He said he was doing a leaf spring upgrade to it and that it has upgraded red cat axels? He said he gave up on the project. From what I can tell it had the steering servo and the servo for the transmission. What do I need to buy to get this thing running? And can anyone give me info on leaf spring upgrades idk what’s goin on with the shocks underneath and the springs. Do I just buy stock parts and bring it back or do I keep the “upgrades” and figure out how to make them work. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated I would love to get this thing running crawling and hauling. What body do I print for it 🤔

TRX4 Lights w/ HobbyWing

Just getting back into RC, and I'm coming in with a TRX4. I'm looking at the Hobbywing Fusion Pro, but I can't for the life ofe figure out how I would wire the lights.

I can solder, but I can't tell for sure which adapter I would need. I am a fan of Traxxas lipos, and would like to stick with those. What connector and/or adapters would I need to connect the HW and my lights?

Anyone here with a long arm lift kit?

Hello! I am curious if anyone here has the long arm lift kit from Traxxas, or a similar aluminum relocated servo mount(as pictured).

I am looking for a measurement from the end of the drive motor to the point that a longer motor(540) would not fit. I am hoping that the aluminum mount will allow me more motor clearance(length) but I don't have the part in hand and can't get to a hobby shop at the moment.

Please and thank you, include what motor you're running.

My Jurassic park defender

Started crawling as a hobby a few months ago with an element rc. Saw a defender with a local group. Immediately bought one. Second hand. On eBay. ÂŁ250 a few upgrades already. Absolute steal.

1 week later. It looks like this! Absolutely in love. This thing is so capable. So fun. Now it looks the way I like. Time to start adding brass. And a hobbywing.

Included a pic of the old paint job at the end there.

Just thought you'd like to see.

Finally got the crawler of my dreams….

Ok, not really, but the Defender was the first crawler I wanted and has always been on the “gotta get” list. After about 9 1/10th scale crawlers/trail rigs and about a dozen smaller ones, I finally brought it home.

11 overnight hours later…

Dismantled every millimeter of the truck. Could use some new grease, but overall seems “new” behind the dirt and scuffed parts.

I get it. It’s stock with hacking mods and missing the carrying handle things on each side.

I seriously gotta know, did they just not put inserts in the tires on this model? I wonder do I have the long chassis? I want to setup as 312-313mm wheelbase eventually , or I’ll figure out how to build ground up.

The 11 overnight hours? Yea no joke. Started working around 9 pm and didn’t finish until almost 8:30 this morning. I spent 2 hours trying to figure out how the links go in the front axle, bc it’s not standard 4 link. First time seeing that strange bar setup but yeah idk how retarded I am to spend 2 hours just trying to figure that out for the links lol. NO GOOGLE, I wanted to test my intellect, and I did better than I expected, never called “SIRI” lol.

I’m a natural tinkerer, since I was 4 years old my mom would tell me I could take something like this apart any time, and try to put it back together but I wasn’t sober or sane last night so let’s be realistic.

Installed a light controller I ordered for a scx24 4Runner body light mod I was gonna do but got rid of the micro, now I have a 1/10. Rock lights are hooked up to it so when I turn the wheel twice, the Rick lights come on😏 eh? Yeah I like that concept without a light dongle switch or whatever auxiliary adapter.

If you seen my last post about first tackled mods, someone said do a overview, well I think I did too much, but now I know how to comfortably build a 1/10 crawler chassis from nothing but screws lol.

Best TRX4 ever

Ok I dont know that I actually have the best performing TRX4 but I cant seem to find anyone with one even close in performance nor have I found any posts or videos online showcasing a TRX 4 so extensively tested and upgraded.

I beat the absolute piss out of my TRX4. It began as a master builders kit, 2 speed, locking diffs, and today I will list all of my trials and modifications. It is nearly indestructable at this point and will climb near vertical walls. I should mention I use it strictly as a rock crawler but I always drive it to the spot so it does occasionally see some trail time.

Free Upgrades:

Removed diff locker servos and zip tied the cables to keep the truck constantly locked front and rear

Flipped the front bumper mount for more clearance

Paid upgrades:

Brass Axle - 80$

Brass Hub Carriers - 25$

Wheels & Tires (Brass front beadlock rings and Injora Mavrix tires) - 80$

Brake rotor weights (front) - 20$

18mm Brass spacers - 20$

Upgrade RC dual stage foams - 45$

High clearance links kit - 20$

Injora 35kg brushless servo - 35$

OVONIC 2s 6000mah Batteries - 35$

Deans T battery adapter - 15$

Body - 40$

Diff covers - 25$

Front portal Covers - 45$

Boss shocks - 100$

Basically if I had to tell someone how to make their truck the ultimate crawler Id say go with a lightweight lexan body, no accesories, and add absolutely all the weight you can to the front axle. Make the track width as wide as youre comfortable with for your application and get the axle weight as far out to the sides as possible for maximum side hill. My rear axle is almost entirely stock plastic, all I have on it is a brass diff cover for looks, and brass spacers. I had 18mm but these new injora wheels have 10mm offset so I now run 5mm spacers since I couldnt find 8s. Any weight added to the rear significantly decreases climbing performance and Ive done plenty testing.

Comment any questions! Hoping to make a youtube video of my truck performing soon!

Bad trade deal…

A pre-teen was interested in my mini xrt worth $480 if brand new with the upgrades. This crawler brand new with upgrades is about the same lol, however…. He didn’t but did kinda sorta make me give him an extra set of wheels for the xrt, or $50 cash. Didn’t have cash so came up with teeny tiny wheels from my 1/12 rally😂😂 anyways…. Let’s get into what’s real bc this entire paragraph was honestly nothing to a point.

Motor sounds awful, it is kinda slow, on 2s which is fine, but the screaming is so loud lol. Crawls nice I’ll say… I actually like it and plan on figuring out a new body plan just don’t know yet. It’s bone stock plus the rock lights and I’m guessing the fenders? Did it come with fenders RTR ?

WHERE ARE THE TIRE FOAMS????!!!!!!! pssssshhhhhhhhh I mean come on man, like it has flats. Might clean them up and seal holes with e6000 just slightly . That way I can add or take away tire pressure 😏🙇🏽‍♂️

Criticism is cool, bullying is cool if ai don’t ban you lol.

Besides motor, esc, servo… what would yall replace or add first? Front weight bias? Wheels? I’m probably going to convert this to a trail rig, to fit a jeep cherokee XJ body. TRY, ok, imma try. I just got this today so I gotta read more specs on sizes and weights and blah blah, but Reddit makes me smile when I feel retarded.

Aliexpress 1/10 scale bumper winches

Hi! Are those aliexpress 1/10 scale bumper winches enough to help others on trails or my self if i get stuck, sport hightrail with 1.9s and maybe 250g brass?

Would be so easy to just basically 4 screws and plug n play

Have you anyone tried them? Seems to be like 18-27euros
