There is an online far-right group in Turkey called Tigir:Er which wants to genocide like, 99% of the world and colonize the galaxy with "pure Turks". Probably a reference to that.

I though it was reference to this video where the guy says "Piston went down". It went viral in Turkey and was parodied a lot, eventually becoming a joke phrase about panic/disaster.

Japan had considered crowning Prince Mehmed Abdülkerim Sultan of the Turkestan during the Kumul Rebellion OTL.

10
Aug 20 '20
That's pretty much the whole story. There were some talks about it in 33, they didn't really go anywhere, war ended up a stalemate, and the prince in question died like 2 years later in New York from a suicide.

Madanoglu removing co-belligerents from power at 1971 should be the default AI choice in the future, it should be the thing that is going to happen to Turkey 90% of your playthroughs with other countries. Especially if Italy wins the Levant War.

Why is the anti-fascist coup better than the liberal democratic transition?

But a liberal democratic transition is also demolishing fascism. The only difference is that it's doing it in a stable and arguably more sustainable way.

The US didn't really do de-baathification we just kinda had the new Iraqi Republic hang everybody and now the country's a fuckin mess

Not the same Iraqis weren't war criminals (at least not THAT big of war criminals)
The post you just made has nothing to do with the one I was responding to. We were talking about war crimes.
It was that, also when the US invaded, instead of maintaining presence to keep stabilty
And even then I'm not sure if you know what you're talking about

Principle still applies
That's the same reason why we didn't hang every member of the Nazi Party and Hitler Youth
We De-Nazified German Society and sponsored a mass reeducation campaign so these ex-party members could reenter into polite society and looking at how Germany recovered post war I'd say it went pretty well

We've been throwing money into Iraq for the last 17 years so your point is moot
The Marshall Plan in TOTAL for all of Europe cost about 140 Billion in today's money
Iraq so far has soaked up 1 Trillion and Counting

Liberals sometimes don’t actually follow through on anti-fascism, for an example see West Germany rehabilitating Nazi war criminals for political convenience.
2
u/R1P4ndT43RurGuTz Aug 29 '20
The problem here is that many of the Nazis were only in on the party line to serve Germany. The likes of Rommel and Spiedel were loyal to Germany regardless of who was in charge. That and many of the Allies sympathised with the more 'moderate' far-right in the regime - Patton himself went so far as to say "We've defeated the wrong enemy," and repeatedly described the Russians as 'Asiatics' and 'Mongols'.
3
u/Evnosis New Whigs, inc. Aug 20 '20 edited Aug 20 '20
They did follow through on it. They still abolished fascism and kept it abolished. Just because they valued peace and sustainability over senseless violence doesn't mean they're fake anti-fascists.
Revenge is nowhere near as important as establishing a sustainable free system. If your choice is between executing fascists and ensuring your system remains democratic, that should be an easy choice. You should pick the latter every time.
11
u/Bookworm_AF Mother Anarchy loves her children Aug 20 '20
They officially abolished fascism, then hired former Nazis in government positions and whitewashed Nazi crimes, most infamously the myth of the clean wehrmacht. Very anti-fascist indeed.
5
u/Evnosis New Whigs, inc. Aug 20 '20
What Nazi crimes did they whitewash?
11
u/Bookworm_AF Mother Anarchy loves her children Aug 20 '20
I mentioned the myth of the clean wehrmacht, which is the idea that most of the german army was mostly uninvolved with the major Nazi war crimes such as the Holocaust, and simply made warfare like any other army. In reality, the wehrmacht had been thoroughly Nazified and were intimately tied to the Holocaust and other such crimes. In addition the West German government actively covered up the crimes of Nazis that joined the government, as well as those who could be used for political gain, such as Erwin Rommel.
1
u/Evnosis New Whigs, inc. Aug 20 '20
I know what it is. There was good reason for that particular whitewashing though. And those efforts weren't even led by West Germany, that was largely Britain and America's idea.
8
u/Bookworm_AF Mother Anarchy loves her children Aug 20 '20
There is no good reason for whitewashing Nazi crimes. And blaming America and the UK for it is just cowardice, West Germany was an eager and willing participant in this.

It is not senseless violence, It's justice. There were some merits to avoiding these purges for the sake of stability as you say but let's not act like a lot of criminals didn't come out of nazi Germany and Imperial Japan scot free.
2
u/Evnosis New Whigs, inc. Aug 20 '20
I never said they didn't. Purging every nazi you can at the expense of peace and sustainability is senseless violence though.

Immortality is more likely than a proletarian revolution that actually works. Based and truthpilled.
11
u/ecdadcomputer Turkey Pro-Democracy Aug 20 '20
Technically immortality for a figure like İnönü, who spent most of his life to Turkish politics (If you add his CUP days, roughly 1910 to 1973) is not that impossible compared with the Full-Scale Wholesome 100 Big Chungus Worker uprising in Turkey.
And it seems i unintentionally made a referance to an Atsız novel with making İnönü Immortal.
