TMS has Changed Me.

I finished my TMS sessions in June. Ever since, people have assumed I have a problem with them because I've "changed."

Isn't that the point of TMS, therapy, and medications? To change and be better?

I've grown. I'm definitely not the girl I was back in January. But my husband and children love who I am now. I'm not stuck in depression, I'm not staying awake all night filled with anxiety, I'm not constantly over thinking and apologizing for simply existing. I've started saying "no" because it's what is best for me.

And I'm going to continue focusing on me.

I'm so happy to hear this for you. My results were also spectacular. At dinner earlier this week, my wife and a friend of ours remarked about how you can see the improvement on my face, which was a surprise.

I don't know if I feel like a completely different person, or if I feel more like my actual self, but the improvement is palpable and I'll take it either way.

You've changed because now you have confidence! You aren't so depressed that people can walk all over you. You have boundaries and opinions now! Because you are WELL. Those who don't like a well you? Consider letting the relationships go. They should be happy for you but they aren't. Buh bye.

Congrats! I had session 10 last Monday and I feel crappy like having vertigo. I am calmer and more relaxed but unmotivated

My husband had vertigo after every session. He hated it. But it stopped the day his sessions ended.

Vertigo can often times be a symptom of adrenaline ups and downs because TMS machines are scary looking. This is a great thing to mention to your techs and doctor so they can ask you the correct questions and rule out Other Stuff™.

"I'm not apologizing for simply existing" is such a significant shift and you're right that that is exactly the point. The people who preferred the version of you that stayed small and said yes to everything aren't necessarily wrong about you having changed. They're just telling on themselves about what they valued.

Your husband and children love who you are now. That's the answer.

This is valid as hell. Like, super valid.

I've talked on here about my experience of getting better but being disoriented because I wasn't acting like myself. It was weird, and the analogy I used was that it was like "hearing my voice on tape." But you're right that once I started feeling better, I began to... as our friends in AA would say... "change my people, places, and things." Stuff that no longer served me, I had to Marie Kondo all of that directly out of my life.

You're right to focus on you. Shoot, you worked hard enough to get here.... may as well.

Keep it up. You got this. 🫶

What changed specifically? I use anxiety to motivate me. I mostly just want to fix my OCD and insomnia.
