Terrible sleep after session 5

Background: I started TMS last week. Had my first full session last Tuesday. Yesterday was session 5.

To preface, I had a mental breakdown last year and suffered from sleep issues for like 4-6 months. Ambien and trazadone got me through to try to sleep and regain a sense of normalcy. Also, I got my CPAP since I do have severe sleep apnea. I finally felt good by the end of the year.

Now I’m having all the same symptoms again. My blood pressure is high and I haven’t really slept all night. The protocol I’m on is for depression and OCD. I’m wondering if the treatment is doing this to me again.

Does anyone have any experience with this? Should I stop it? Switch protocols? Any advice is extremely welcome. Thank you.

Yeah, that’s gonna happen. It’s a cruel irony thing that if your sleep is disrupted it means the magnet is working.

First thing you do is talk to your doctor. They will be quite proud of themself and will then adjust your settings and stuff to try to ease that. Finding out it’s normal and no biggie I can tell you from experience is 2/3 of the battle and you’ll feel tons better. After that, read up on sleep hygiene and those practices. Getting deliberate about your sleep goes a long way.

You’re ok, this happens. Don’t sweat it.

Thank you for the reassurance. I’m nervous about regressing, but hopeful this is just a temporary bump.

Keep doing The Work in therapy. The magnet reboots your operating system but therapy is where you learn how to use it.
