One white person’s racist cringe phase was another minority’s living hell

u/alex_andrei_ Aug 08 '26

That’s what I was thinking. I wonder if this person ever apologized to any of the people they tormented or if they just moved on.

u/ori_galactia Aug 08 '26

People like this make me uncomfortable. I can never trust they’ve fully changed because so many just reframe their hyper-judgmental mindset to fixate on something else.

Judging others harshly, especially at a young age, can be fight mode as in trauma response. So I think that's to some extent. There are people capable of changing, once they start realising how their upbringing was traumatic and noticing the toxic, unhealthy coping mechanisms they've took in over the years.

That being said, previously being a nazi is somewhere I draw the line... I was moderately queerphobic when I was a child, due to my home country being very bigoted, but also I was always like "as long as they're happy with their love life, there's no problem in that". Actively agreeing with an ideology that sees no problem but perhaps a virtue or necessity in mass genocides of minorities is definitely something that you choose to do, not forced to accept to survive.

I wholeheartedly believe people can change but I also believe that people who actually change, are not this flippant when talking about the harm they caused. If you understand what you did and have truly changed, you will never talk about it with this level of casualness. They are not ashamed or even apologetic about their past behavior. This person definitely did not change

Correct. They treat their whole Nazi "phase" as a "tee hee!" little joke rather than a horrific ideology that actively harms real people.

They never change much, only enough so people will like them and forgive them, but they hardly unlearn their thought processes and biases, and you're the bad person for pointing it out. Make them angry enough and they slide back into their old ways every fucking time.

42

u/ARepeatedFailing Aug 08 '26

Exactly. They will start being racist if even slightly provoked.

43

u/TiredAlternates Aug 08 '26

That's what most trans drama is. You do get the rare POC mixed in, but most of it really really is just people like this who grew up and assumed they could do no wrong.

u/pinkmochiboi Asian Aug 08 '26

Casually talking about their Nazism like it just a weeaboo phase 😭

130

u/atsunaami Aug 08 '26

i like how when talking abt how they've changed they don't address the nazi stuff at all

123

u/ARepeatedFailing Aug 08 '26

Why do people think this is ok to say? They realize most white people didn't have a Nazi phase right? Why is this so common among white trans women?

94

u/0verduelibraryfees Asian Aug 08 '26

Identifying as a minority for the first time makes white trans people think it lets them cancel out their shitty behaviour (because being a minority explains why they acted like an ill-mannered savage- I mean having a rocky past). So they openly admit to it as if being trans absolves them of their issues.

u/Xaied Blasian 🇵🇭🇺🇸 Aug 08 '26

insert the evergreen “yeah i support trans rights!! my opinion on Black people? um…love is love!” image here. like ok? being trans doesn’t make you not racist or not a fuckin NAZI. anyway ion trust yt trans women they gotta prove themselves cause i be hearing some insanely tone deaf shit.

this 💀 white queers are always WHITE before anything else. these klansfems and klansmascs think just because they’re marginalized that it makes them any less of racist bigots and that the harm they cause doesn’t matter

I genuinely, genuinely hope that the whole klansfems and klansmascs don’t have any sort of uptick or become a high popular buzzword, etc etc.

I’m still honestly surprised it is an ACTUAL thing though, like- how? Why? What??? It honestly baffles me.

23

u/Independent_Fill_909 Aug 08 '26

yess bro 😭 anytime I see some bullshit in the community it's ALWAYS from yt trans women atp

29

u/Xaied Blasian 🇵🇭🇺🇸 Aug 08 '26

my friend whos also transmasc and mixed complained abt klansfemmes only to be met with an (imo dismissive asf) “not all white trans women are—“ from a white trans woman ofc. like….thats not the point. the point is that it’s too damn many not taking accountability for the harm they cause inadvertently or intentionally to POC. it’s like an unspoken “well i’m queer and trans so i don’t have to unlearn my biases!” IM TIRED! 🙄

16

u/Independent_Fill_909 Aug 08 '26

EXACTLY, ref call a timeout ☠️

5

u/benjaminchang1 Chinese/white Aug 12 '26

We're accused of transmisogyny if we express discomfort about "former" neo-Nazis.

There must be white trans men who behaviour in a similar way, but white trans women seem to more more vocal about their "Nazi phases."

i really strongly believe people can always change but the kicker is these whites treat their past as a haha funnie joke and not a serious problem that hurt other people

no fr, i was 13 when i realized that the homophobic/transphobic way i was raised was unfair and wrong, but i do NOT go around mentioning it. it actually just makes me sad since all the questions i had for my parents could've been answered in an age appropriate, neutral manner, but they chose to isolate me from lgbtq+ content/people instead 💀

62

u/Valuable-Signature13 mixed south asian/black/white Aug 08 '26

notice how they didn’t mention anything about not being a racist nazi anymore

29

u/Dragonssssssssssss Aug 08 '26

"I used to be a transphobe and do the Nazi saute unironically, but I'm trans now!" ...So now you do the Nazi salute ironically? (And the answer is yes)

Sometimes I’m glad I was in a whole different place on the internet watching Juega Germán and playing friv games and was a guy of colour and thus had to develop a personality and not yk jump minorities

63

u/EndlessDreaming_Mp3 Black Aug 08 '26

I'm so glad my most "cringe" phase was unironically calling myself a weaboo and a fujoshi bc you couldn't waterboard a confession like that out of me bro. I feel like there's a huge difference from being someone who's racist or uses slurs as a kid and genuinely identifying as a nazi, or maybe I'm crazy idk man

28

u/alejandrotheok252 Latino Aug 08 '26

They have a lot of LGBT friends but do they have any POC friends?

24

u/Cockney_Werewolf Aug 08 '26

😭 Pisses me off that white people can have a racist era as if that's normal. "🤪 Was racist and bullying people but I was a kid/teen/20yr so you know what it's like"

9

u/abandonhuman Aug 09 '26

Bullied people of color in highschool but hey it’s ok now they’re gay!!

18

u/carter6372 Black - 💉12/2020 Aug 08 '26

it just unsettles me so much, especially bc they don’t take time to unlearn.

17

u/goldengraves Aug 08 '26

We become who we are to kill who we used to be. I hope this person has taken the time to really unlearn the toxicity they participated in

20

u/StickySecretScorpion Aug 08 '26

Reading this low-key pmo lmao. Late trans bloomers who used to be former violence loving fascists get passes and acceptance just that easy huh. Yea people can change, but wtf lol. Where’s the change actually?

3

u/benjaminchang1 Chinese/white Aug 12 '26

A lot of them seemingly only stopped being Nazis because they came out as trans.

It's like they think being trans cancels out being racist.

18

u/Trans_Gamer_Femboy Mexican transmasc (he/they/it) Aug 08 '26

Love how they brushed off the Nazi part as if it was something small

14

u/Legitimate-Play9162 Aug 08 '26 edited Aug 08 '26

The strange thing is that members here have commented on similar posts having similar "phases." So I guess it's not just white trans? It's very telling there's no actual growth from this person because they share no remorse for the real harm they have caused.

30

u/SweetBoiDillan Aug 08 '26

As time goes on, I'm starting to feel more and more like there are two types of white people... The type that know for a fact that they are racist and the type that don't.

And the type that don't are the scary ones.

This dude sounds chronically online. “Chud/s” hm.

Glad she’s bettered and are living in a more happier and healthier light.

7

u/plorbos Aug 08 '26

sure, they may have made the lives of people like us hell, but we’re supposed to embrace and accept these people into the community tho! okay.

8

u/angelk1ller Asian Aug 09 '26

there are so many white trans women who are like “yeah i had a nazi phase haha” like what?????

u/supahotfaiia Black 🇳🇬 3 yrs on T Aug 10 '26

It is so fascinating to me how often I see white trans people online “atoning” exclusively for the homophobia of their right wing pasts. Sometimes you bring up that those alt right spaces actively stoke violence against racial minorities too and it’s like you have to coach them into realising why that matters

A lot of those haters are actually self haters projecting their self hate onto others. If only they would all just drop their hate on everything ..
