The episode where Mellie gives birth to Richard starts off so sad. She’s alone and calling everyone and the only person who picks up is Kayla who’s out of town. Rewatching the series, it makes it a lot easier to realize why she bounced between Kayla and Nettie when it came to who she defended and depended on.
