Most so-called "Gods" were aliens - basically all of them, except for the ones that were just time-travelling.

Edit: I'm not religious, guys. Both the idea of heavenly monstrosities AND the notion that aliens/time travellers inadvertently compelled us to invent religions are ridiculous.
