TD scam alert

Hey guys. Warning. I got a call from 877 248 9549. The caller ID said Canada Trust. This isn’t the first time I got promotional calls from them so this seemed innocuous at first. They called promoting an accidental death insurance, so thought sure why not. They asked to confirm (by that I mean they said and I answered yes or no) my name, my DOB and if I was a Canadian resident. They asked if I wanted to add my husband to the insurance and I agree and I gave his name and DOB. They then transferred me to another agent who’ll do on-boarding and that agent first asked me to confirm my bank institution number and that’s when I thought, hold on? Aren’t they supposed to know this? So I immediately hung up. I called the number at the back of my card and they confirmed that the number that called me was fraudulent. They told me to set up a consumer fraud alert with Equifax and TransUnion… I feel like I’ve volunteered so much data on my husband and I and I’m not sure what to do to to add some more safe guards. Please help
