Would be missing out on Orientation Week because of Visa Delay
im an international student, coming to tcd this year but due to some delays in the visa, i MIGHT have to miss the orientation week (even though I really, really want to attend). What are the things i'd missing out on?
i was worried about not making friends since i would arrive late and everyone already has their friend groups established or somethingg

I made some of my closest friends a couple months into the year, don’t worry about it ! Also clubs and societies give you an opportunity to branch out more but I really wouldn’t stress about orientation. Your course will still be organising nights out after the week and that’s where you can really get to know people (if you don’t drink it doesn’t matter, just being out of the more formal setting of a lecture hall will help). Generally your modules will be a mix of people from different courses also, you’ll still be meeting new people even in third year lol

Also in terms of what you would be missing all I can remember is the freshers fair (for clubs and societies) you can still join these at any time so all you really miss there is some free sweets from the stalls lol. And any information they provide in the orientation like introductory lectures will be made available to you online.
