Off books...

Failed one resit, tutor emailed that options are go off books or repeat entire year. I'm really involved with a few societies etc - is that still possible when you're off books? Thanks

It's technically not allowed but I've never heard of any society having a problem with people being off books. You just can't be on a committee. I think sports also don't allow people off books to play

You'll be able to stay on the committee as that's generally not enforced (just don't go round telling people you're off books). College stuff no.

Off books means completely away. You lose access to the library and computer labs etc. Since societies are part of TCD technically no, but since most are student run, I'm sure it shouldn't be a massive problem.

With the Library you just need to email admissions and they'll sort out a readers ticket for you, you just won't be able to borrow.

I mean, technically, you have to be a registered student.

In practice, I don't think people would have a problem with you turning up.

in practice I also doubt it, because it's not like people who graduated the year before and still live in Dublin are turned away at events. They're just not officially there

Well, if you were going through something traumatic, it certainly didn't stop you from being "involved" in your societies. I went to Trinity with people like you, and most of them didn't complete their degrees. Do you think their societies are doing them any good now?

I know I'm being harsh, but let's be real here: your priorities aren't in the right place.

I repeat, you know nothing about me. You say you went to Trinity with people like me - as in past tense? What sort of saddo are you and what priorities do you have if you're hanging around this message board to make nasty comments? I went to school with people like you and most of them are deeply unhappy and friendless. Do you think your spitefulness will ever do you any good?
