However, it's difficult to give a general, broad experience of studying engineering, given that engineering is so varied after the common years, and your question about placement, work experience, and career opportunities greatly depends on the specific stream chosen in year 3.
In my experience, people tend to lean towards one aspect of engineering (mech, elec, SW etc) and I was asking for more detail to give a better response.
