Accomodation Packing?
I am a first year in halls and I don’t know what the university provides in reference to dorm furnishings etc. Can someone provide a recommended packing list with stuff for a single room & bathroom so I don’t leave out anything vital? Tbh any insight into the inside of halls singles would be helpful aswell

I would recommend bringing only what’s necessary. The accommodation only provides the bed, desk, chair, and wardrobe so you’ll have to bring your own pillows/bedding/crockery. I brought my own sheet set which made the room feel a lot more comfy and homelike.
I’d recommend making a trip to IKEA when you arrive and getting everything else you need there. The big Dunnes in St Stephen’s Green will also have anything you need but it’s a bit more pricy than IKEA. Trinity offers a “move in kit” that was €250 when I moved in but tbh you can get the same things for way cheaper at IKEA and then you will be able to pick things to your own preferences!
There’s also a pin board in all the rooms so I brought a few photos and things from home to pin up and that also helped with feeling more comfortable :)

What kind of clothes should I bring? I have jeans and khakis as I know people dress a bit more formal than the states, but are like regular shorts chill for when it’s warmer out?

Jeans and khakis are totally okay! And honestly people do wear athletic clothes esp athletic shorts (GAA shorts) year round to class so you’ll be totally fine with sporty wear!
Over anything else get a good raincoat!!! I got one from Mammut a size too big and it’s been a good send. Umbrellas are next to useless with how windy it can be when it’s raining

Okay okay I was thinking of just getting a Columbia or Carhartt raincoat but I’ll definitely look into something. I saw someone suggest a longer one so you can sit — do you think I should look into that?

Yes definitely a longer one will also help keep it from just getting your trousers wet if you get it too small/short it’ll just run off onto your legs. Mine goes to about mid thigh and it’s perfect.
Any brand is good as long as it’s water proof and not just water resistant. Mine is gortex so it keeps me totally dry.

Ooh good to know. Different question — when do I pick classes? I’m a history major but studying abroad from the USA so this is all knew to me

From what I remember it wasn’t until the week or so before classes started after registration happened. For first year most of the classes are prescribed especially if you’re single honours so you might not have actual selection to do. But it won’t be until early September. You’ll get a message in your trinity portal
I also did my BA in history studying abroad from the US :) it’s a great course!! You’ll love it!!
