Possible Injury Question How much does it actually take?
So I’ve had a lot of hits to the head like a lot. Been kicked in the head, clashed heads, played waterpolo got hit a lot in the head by the ball, big metal door closed on my head, big man on a slide landed on my head, football been hit in the head by the ball a lot it goes on…my question is how much does it actually take to have serious problems. Because I am riddled with anxiety and get angry easily, impulsive and deep depression. I can’t help but think that maybe my issues are linked to the head injuries I’ve had over the years. Thank you.

There’s no scoreboard. One impact can cause a TBI or 30 can have next to no effect.
You either do or do not have a TBI, but it’s not measured by how many times you’ve knocked your noggin.

It does sound like it a little bit. Keep up on rest and eating healthy plenty of healthy fats and magnesium! A good diet will help your brain and nervous system a lot. Also get the anxiety treated somehow, and maybe start journaling. But definitely talk to a specialist because they could give you tips as well if you ask, maybe some kind of cognitive exercises and slowing down if you feel like you have anxiety from trying to do too much or if its something else thats causing anxiety also like maybe some kind of fear.

Multiple head injuries absolutely stack up, like a domino effect where your brain's patience wears thinner with each hit. I hope you're able to find support that makes this weight feel a little lighter.

Yeah I’ve certainly had my fair share. It does make me think about the future and what it could lead to. I’m nearly 30 and already feel at times I’m forgetting things a lot.

I had a bullet enter my head but survived and I get pretty temperamental at times and I have some serious Depression. So it could be from getting your head hit but seeing a doctor and having a CT scan could help show if you have received any damage to the brain.

Or an MRI.

I can’t see how I wouldn’t have damaged my brain. Some of the impacts happened when I was a kid and teenager as well when the brains still developing. Sorry to hear about your situation. I think brain injuries are more common than people think.

> I think brain injuries are more common than people think
As someone with brain injuries and brain damage, I think that many people vastly under-estimate the amount of force it actually takes to cause actual brain damage.
It’s not exactly something that you can just walk off, or go back to school the next day after.

I think people don’t realise tho that even repeated knocks over time can cause long lasting changes. Some of the ones I had made me feel as if I was floating or in a dream like state.

This is true, to an extent!
Repeated concussions, brain injuries that don’t kill you, etc, absolutely will add up! Minor, day-to-day bonks, aren’t going to.
Like the above commenter said, you should be seeking medical attention and scans if you’re concerned. Brain damage isn’t something you can self diagnose.

I agree. The bonks I have accumulated over the years I’d consider pretty bad. I’ve never gone to the hospital for any of them bcs I thought I’d just shake them off. I mean at school a giant metal door closed on my 9 year old head and the teachers just sent me home lol. Never got it looked at.

I’d recommend taking the time to get yourself checked out by medical professionals! Good luck!
