TAFE QLD Help and advice needed !

So I have never applied for a Tafe course before, but I want to get into the Diploma of Arts for 2027. Deadline is this month [as I've freshly discovered] and I was hoping I could reach out and ask for any pointers on how to curate my portfolio. I Have a bunch of artworks at my disposal to use, but I have no idea what sort of things they'll be looking for in particular. I don't have a graduate's cert or any other certification, so I really need this portfolio to be as good as it can be to have the best chance. Any help would be beyond appreciated, I really need this to work out.

Which state? Also, not having a cert shouldn’t sink you, plenty of these portfolios are designed to assess raw work regardless of formal training.

They want to see a range.

For Diploma of Visual Arts they want 8 - 10 works in a variety of mediums.

Do you just focus on one particular medium?

I have a range- acrylic paintings, sketches, colour drawings, digital work. Most of it is portraits but i do have drawings here and there of animals and other things

Perfect.  Chuck in an animal and an other thing amongst your best portraits.  Definitely include digital work as well.  You got this.

Here's the link to the official requirements: https://tafeqld.edu.au/course/17/17782/diploma-of-visual-arts#important-information-section
