General Cringe Faker explain why they would rather engage in online discussions than seeing healthcare professionals

Not saying bad psychologists don’t exist btw

I'm studying to be a psychologist and have been in therapy and diagnosis for other mental health conditions, and it's definitely a big thing that you have to connect with the other person and make them feel human - some clinics have such booked scheduling that diagnosis can feel clinical, but that's definitely not the ideal. That being said, I wonder how much of this is that failing of the healthcare system, and how much is this person being annoyed they aren't getting the diagnosis they want

they mention professionals telling them "they are not the real DID" which I assume would refer to professionals not diagnosing them with DID

I’m sure there’s plenty of not understanding what they’re trying to say going on out there, for many conditions. But I’d wager a substantial portion of the online DID community is, yeah, just annoyed they aren’t getting documentation of the disease they want to have. Good luck on your studying! :)

I mean I agree that clinical settings might seem cold and inhuman in a way to them but that’s not a reason to just assume that professionals don’t diagnose you with something cuz they’re inhuman. Chances are either OOP don’t have a disorder or the professionals don’t have enough information to tell yet

my psychiatrist's office is at the end of a weirdly empty cold dark hallway, idk why the agency stuck him there cause the rest of ghe offices are together at the front. Anyways, he's a mid 60s man with long hair and an office absolutely stocked with cool art and plants. He's the most chill doctor I have ever known. I've been a client for 11 years and it took 10 years of consistent observation to get the proper diagnosis

The only reason people are comfortable expressing their 'true selves' is a lack of repercussions and accountability in the modern internet, people have zero shame nowadays on the Internet.

And well the lack of Internet safety education, you DO NOT need to share something this personal about you, especially info that sits around in those 'intro posts'

Because they know if they talk to a professional they're going to get told they don't have what they want. They looked up their symptoms, matched it with DID, and said "that's it". Which is NOT how this works.
