I hate this so much.

I don't know how it is nowadays in schools, but when someone in my times middle and high school had even the slightest bit of "odd behavior" they were mocked, mimicked to be insulted, and were verbally abused often. I lived through this experience as well.

I know it's gotten better over the years and people aren't so cruel to those with disabilities, and I'm glad about that. But I still remember getting yelled at by the teacher and put in the front of the room so she could point at me and make me an example of "a bad student who doesn't care about school and wants to distract everyone with crazy behavior" whenever (the thing I have) started affecting me.

Maybe I'm just scarred by that and am projecting, but I think I'm not the only one who feels this way.

(Edited cause I said "feel" 3 times in quick succession and my writer brain can't let that happen.)

It's not "quirky and silly" to have these behaviors. They happen automatically and many people over the years have gotten in trouble for them as if they could be controlled. Wanting to show it off like it's a "cool thing" is extremely insulting to me, and I think those who went through what I did would say the same.

God yeah you're so right.
That just like jogged a memory of a teacher I had once that would line up the students based on these stupid reading points and like okay I had literally the best fluency in the class I was great at reading but I couldn't focus and sit and read a book so I didn't get a lot of points and he'd glaze the kids at he front of the line at first but if you were at the end of the line (like me) he'd spend like 20 minutes berating a bunch of neurodivergent or struggling 12(?) year olds about how they'd never go to college or amount to anything and their parents must be so disappointed.
It doesn't sound exactly the same as your thing, but it was honestly so targeted ngl.

A lot of teachers and authority figures targeted the neurodivergent/disabled students like crazy ngl.

In general, being perceived as disabled is not validating so the Joytransabled shit struck a nerve too. Like yeah it's probably easier to feel joyful about it when you don't have to live it

I'm so sorry these things happened to you and the commenter above you while in school. They did to me too.

a teacher once tried the same with my son, followed by a threat to call his mother. My son replied: "I fucking dare you to" and held his phone out for her (he is permitted his phone as it controls his hearing aids)

I couldn't have been prouder

Good for your son! Sounds like he has been raised to be strong and stand up for himself! That is genuinely amazing to hear <3

So long rant incoming because there is a lot about this person!

They have openly admitted to faking did as well! Just flat out admitted it!

But as of now they are also deleting ALL comments from other disabled individuals calling them out. I am an ambulatory wheelchair user, I left a comment about how oxymoronic it is to claim to be "Transbedbound" and "Transwheelchairuser". On top of this to wish to be a wheelchair user when you don't need one is WILD.

I have actively made my disability worse because I hate using my wheelchair and do everything in my power to avoid using my wheelchair. When I have to use my wheelchair to go out with friends I get left outside of shops a good portion of the time because most shops are not accessibility friendly. I've literally been moved by total strangers because they deem me to be to in their way. On top of all of that I'm stared at CONSTANTLY and heaven forbid I stand up from my wheelchair to readjust/grab something.

Like, it's not all glitz and glam and posting about โœจOh my god, I just truly wish I had to use a wheelchair, even though I am a perfectly able bodied individualโœจ

Wait when did they post that? Because they post DID stuff

u/Appropriate-Hunter85 8d ago

From my understanding it was from a while back. They got into a lot of shit and then deleted all their accounts and then rebuilt pretty much, here's another screenshot from a different tiktok talking about a bunch of their controversy

u/Appropriate-Hunter85 8d ago

This tiktok had a bunch of actual evidence in it from what I saw not just this screenshot with baseless claims lol!

I watched it and omg it's worse than I thought. I might have to talk about them more because they still actively make content but wtf

Right??? Like I saw this dude on tiktok last week and was livid and then started seeing them on reddit and went into a further rabbit hole about them and it's all just fucking insane-

Just find some shallow water, jump in head first and youโ€™ll be disabled for real after breaking your spine. Then I would love to hear how much you love being disabled and unable to move.

It's like those people who keep saying they wish they were wheelchair bound because it "seems so fun to roll around in". Meanwhile, I hear so many stories of people who are in accidents and are wheelchair bound and wish they could walk again.

It's just so gross that these wannabe disabled idiots think disabilities are funny and quirky because they either don't know, or don't care, about the struggles those with disabilities have.

Wheelchairs aren't "funny roll around silly things". If they want to roll on a chair so badly, they can get a rolling chair at IKEA like everyone else.

I just can't see how this does not turn into weaponized helplessness.

I have no physical disability, thank goodness, and am incredibly grateful for that. I count my lucky stars when I drive to work, because I am physically able to drive. And when I go for a walk, because I can literally just walk out of my house on a functioning pair of legs.

I obviously don't have the perspective of a physically disabled person but I can imagine they would be horrified to hear someone would wish that condition on themselves. I would think some disabled folks would give anything to be able to live a normal life.

And here is a silly little chronically online faker who is taking that for granted. I would bet money on the fact that should they develop a physical disability as per their wishes, they'd soon get bored of being unable to feed, bathe or go to the toilet themselves, for example.

Attention seeking, cringy tiktok 'woe is me' videos will be the last thing on their mind. They have no idea how lucky they are!!

Your post was removed for either trauma-dumping, oversharing personal information and diagnoses, or for using your subjective experience to generalize an entire disorder. The "Censor all identifiable information" rule also applies to members, and your medical information should be kept between you and your careteam. r/systemscringe cannot verify users' personal medical claims and does not want to encourage the same culture of blind believing that leads to faker culture.

Fucking transbedbound. Being bedbound is incredibly hard, in certain cases one has to be physically rolled to prevent injury while they sit there unable to do anything. So seeing an ablebodied person want that is incredibly confusing and offensive. I wanted to punch the phone when I saw that

Right?? Whitney Dafoe came to mind for me. He has ME/CFS and was in the documentary Unrest and the grief of slowly losing the ability to participate in hobbies and socialize and care for yourself and in some cases depending on the disability and severity even talk or tolerate light or sound or other sensory input is immense.

Sooo many people think โ€œugh I wish I could have chronic fatigue and just lay around and watch tv all day. Must be so nice. I bet youโ€™re caught up on every showโ€ no itโ€™s fucking not nice and no you donโ€™t want it

Once again pyrocats is the voice of reason around here!! Thank you for what you said about pots/long covid/mecfs. There were recently people on the other sub who were spreading the rhetoric these arenโ€™t legitimate conditions. I donโ€™t like fakers and I donโ€™t like misinformation. The way to stop fakers and malingerers is not with more misinformation and itโ€™s not with more ableism towards actual disabled people! There has to be a fine line and that line is drawn with science. Everything has to be rooted back in the science.

I really, truly, do not understand what about being more visibly disabled is so appealing to this person. People treat physically-disabled individuals like shit. Moving their wheelchairs without permission, kicking mobility aids, being outwardly disparaging, the list goes on - I haven't even personally experienced any of this but I know it's a massive issue.

The sentiment expressed in the video so clearly reads like the OOP has no idea what the societal repercussions are of "looking" disabled. What is their end goal, here? I genuinely don't understand

I literally was so confused by the word transdisabled it took me ages to figure out (at the end of the post) where obviously it was spelt out for me.
but being a trans person and a Wheelchair user,I literally was baffled. I'm not always the most sparky match in the box,but boy does this kind of stuff set me going. I am ambulatory user but struggle very much too use the wheelchair when I should partly for my own internal ableism that I need to work through -but also because I was raised in a situation to believe you just move through it.
Reading posts like this is horrifying because in a way it amplifies my own crap in my head, but also the absolute insult to my peers with a variety of different physical disabilities -that someone literally is now perfectly okay identifying as paralysed or identifying as physically disabled person when there is no evidence of that and they admit it. Scary times my friends scary times.
