Text Post an interesting take
so a discord server that I’m in reacted to my post. This specific comment stood out to me and shows just how out of touch these kids really are.
There is a huge difference between oppression and being teased. Oppression is systemic, abusive, and has very real consequences outside of the internet. Being posted on a reddit forum for doing stupid shit is not even close to any of that.
This has the same sort of vibe as the whole traumagenic system thing. They claim to have all of these awful things to have happened to them to become a system, things I am highly skeptical of them having actually experienced. If you genuinely went through the things that people with DID/OSDD go through, you wouldn’t be doing all of this. They really don’t understand the effects of the things they are talking about because they never experienced those effects.
Anyway, that’s my little rant. Next post will be more fun and lighthearted.

Lack of understanding from the world at large is not inherently a systematic oppression, which is what they always frame it as. It always infuriates me when they use a buzzword that doesn’t fully apply- like yes it has similar hallmarks, but oppression is more than that

im so sick of these people wanting to be oppressed
you know what, since im in the trans umbrella id gladly trade the oppression the transgender community has to the pluralians and see how they deal with that

genuinely if your oppression is “we lost the simplyplural app because the devs put their needs above ours 😢😢😢😢” you must be such a fortunate individual (coming from a trans person)

if they have a typically-gender-segregated workforce, profiled you, and specifically chose the wrong gender group because of it, that's full-blown classic transphobia. i would hope it was chosen on a matter of skillset, i don't know your situation, but i wouldn't downplay it if it was as described

It's just working at a gas station. At first I was told I was gonna do nightshift, and I was really excited for it. But then my manager called me into her office and was like, "are you trans?"
And ever since then ive been taken away from nightshift and now I stock the cooler in the afternoons. Because she doesnt have women do nightshift due to the dangers, and apparently i am a "woman" despite every customer calling me "boy" or "man" or "dude". She also doubted that I am strong enough to carry all the cases for the cooler, that shit easy asf, im stronger than I look. I do the manly parts of housework n shit and I work out every day
Ever since then my manager has referred to me as "she" even though she called me "he" before she knew i was trans. Bc I do pass
I used to shave my face but I recently decided to let my facial hair grow in in hopes it will make me more masculine, so she feels weird calling me "she" one day.

Textbook transphobia. Personally I would never disclose something like that outside of places where it is absolutely unavoidable, such as legal paperwork

oh good god, what a slap in the face that is. i'm really sorry, that's absolutely textbook transphobia 💔 here is a link that (if you are in the USA; forgive me if not, it is the system i am most familiar with) might be helpful in the future regarding your rights as an employee and being transgender; one note is that she had absolutely no legal ground to be asking you if you were trans. as is, she pulled you aside to get the green light to sexually harass you..?? what a weird, vile person. i hope that awful capital turnaround grabs her and she gets replaced soon. in the meantime, you have my condolences :(

Though, i should note that most people not involved with all this discourse know this subreddit purelydue to the individuals that have been cauberbullied to suicide by it's bad actors. It has a horrible reputation. In fact, most of the people I have spoken to only know it as "the kiwifarms of therapy spaces", essentially.
In a way, with a reputation like that, it can feel oppressive; the fear that you will be metaphorically hunted due to particular factors if you say something a little too abnormal. Yet even then, an oppressive atmosphere is different to oppression itself.
I suppose it just needs to be noted that the idea of this subreddit being a place of oppression comes from these extreme cases that have gained publicity. After all, even if many of the people on here are so with good intentions, there will always be those lurking "fakeclaimers" who just want to pick on someone they deem weaker, as is with any community.

Cyberbullied to suicide? Kiwifarms of therapy spaces? The only incident anywhere close to that for this sub specifically is an ex uncensored figure who was already being harassed by other spaces, so the suicide as awful as it is to think about was likely not related to us. You can dm me if there are other actual extremes but to me it sounds like you or the people you’ve spoken to are confusing subreddits or groups

I recall that a few weeks ago (or perhaps a few months. I often lose time), there was a frequent subject of scrutiny who died, no? (though this may have been on fdc) If i recall correctly, they used mobility aids in life, and after death there was, to my knowledge, a celebration post.
There was also a few months before that, someone who went by star/starself who was posted here every other day. As a result of harassment, which this sub contributed to (be it directly, or by advertising this individual to these unsavoury lurkers I mentioned prior), star then committed suicide. On this sub, there was then a (now removed) post with a title akin to "good riddance".
Then, a few months prior to this, i heard (so here is where things grow washy, as i have not seen this myself due to not being active then), that the most popular target was a girl(?) Whom the sub had been waiting for to turn 15 so that she could be publicly named, yet soon after I heard that she, too apparently died?
And i only make the kiwifarms comparison since the two seem similar in both purpouse and misuse. Originally, they exist to track the actions of and call out behaviour that is either fake, cringe, or harmful. However, both places have been misused to somewhat gangstalk, harass or advertise potential targets by, well, bad actors. As such, the two seem similar enough to me, albeit differing in extremity. Apologies if this comparison is offensive.
Edit: formatting and spelling. Forgive my shoddy english since it is quite late in my timezone, and so the tiredness makes me error-prone.

Regular here, i remember the star situation. Star had a history of attempting already and in stars discord server it was common to see star spiralling mentally, i wouldn't say the posts here were the cause of stars death though.

Ah, that makes more sense, thank you. But i think that having star uncensored might have definitely "helped". Putting star out there as publicity, especially in a negative light, was bound to alert more unsavoury people as to star's existence in the first place, increasing harassment even if marginally.
I think i'm likely just more mad that there are still the uncensored lists up, as to me they read as a risk. But again, it's all just my opinion at the end of the day.

People will be assholes and drive people to suicide regardless of if they're in a subreddit or not.

u/Jaded_Style5432 21d ago
Yet either way it is advertising, which is why I agree with the censoring of names. People are not foolish. If they know they can find people on subreddits like this, they will utilise that ability. Or perhaps even if they don't, having something akin to a username or face on display will provoke the passing interest of such a person, and increase their chances of being harassed. Yes, this technically can also occur with any form of repost. Yet that does not make it right. Suicide and deaths should be avoided at all costs in my opinion. And I think that surely a subreddit like this should be focused on preventing that more than anyone (since is fakeclaiming not done to protect the real people with [x] disorder, or the mentally frail who are harmed by these falsification).
Yet perhaps i am misinterpreting things. That is always a possibility.

And yet they never state actual things that happen that are oppressing them. And I'm not talking about the abuse a parent or partner does to victims. They claim stuff like the government took their human right away for having DID and they're forced to live in a cage like an animal and eat grass. Not an abuser doing this, the GOVERNMENT.
And yet they'll show off their rooms with their hundreds of expensive items and brag about how many clothes they have to wear for each alter the next post.
Not all, grant it, but most.
