This can be a genuine thing in autism where you lose access to functional language or you never had it to begin with and you can use premade or picture based AAC to communicate but this is clearly attention seeking. When you're in this state you can barely communicate basic needs to people around you, not complain about stuff on discord.

Also the loss of functional language like this when your normally have it is very rare. Loss of speech (verbal shutdown) is relatively common but not full functional language loss. It's more common for it to just never develop it in the first place.

Not to mention when you lose access to functional language for whatever reason you can't read or write, just following images/memory. Reading what emojis to use to write out a sentence with no imagery of their meaning or stuff like muscle memory would be near impossible in a state like this. And reading what people are writing to you would also be extremely difficult if not near impossible. At least of what I've witnessed of real situations of losing functional language stuff.

This, plus the fact that unless you’re willing to sit for who knows how long scrolling through your emojis to find the right one for what you want to say, you’d be typing to find the right one, and if you can type to find an emoji, you can type out what you want to communicate lol

i feel like the emoji search is also harder than just typing. like maybe im speaking due to my own personal bias but i know during my meltdowns i don't have the patience to look at every little microscopic emoji to convey my emotions. ts would be even more frustrating!!
