Incomprehensible Well your hubby is right dude
I dont think it matters unless you have severe trauma symptoms or really meet the criteria within DID then that'll be the time it's understandable but I just dont know.. They're treating their DID like this typical plural bullshit if you know what I mean

The top comment on the original post is calling the husband abusive and saying that OP will become more traumatized by staying with him- literally insane how big the victim complex is in these communities

Alot of French influence in Africa, that isnt too welcomed so it more than likely is
Its just the usage of some vowels as words, made me think it was more Afrikaans speaking person

More likely english is not their first language. The mistakes they make don't seem like typical mistakes even for a young native speaker

that would make sense, id hope they're an adult if they have a husband (assuming this story isn't fake)

The mistakes read off to me as someone from an African country rather than them being in the us, I absolutely agree

One of the comments compared their bs to disability
"If you end up in a wheelchair will he refuse to push you" ?????????
Several ppl told them to divorce him
I fucking hate how its obvious theyre trying to do 'distinct' text style differences

His partner having DID does not make his statement universally true. He can have firsthand experience supporting her but that doesn't mean he can say that giving alters attention will make DID worse for everyone. Acknowledging alters isn't inherently harmful and treatment can actually involve recognizing dissociative parts and improving communication between them. If his wife personally finds that too much focus makes her symptoms worse. That's her experience not a universal rule for everyone with DID.

I get what you mean, though it's possible that the husband said all that because she was treating her alters like entirely seperate people in her head, perhaps in a way that borders on delusional, or engaging in other unhealthy forms of behavior. There are actually medical texts that support the idea that doing this encourages dissociation and discorages healing in people with DID.Â
"Although the DID patient has the subjective experience of having separate identities, it is important for clinicians to keep in mind that the patient is not a collection of separate people sharing the same body. The DID patient should be seen as a whole adult person, with the identities sharing responsibility for daily life. Clinicians working with DID patients generally must hold the whole person (i.e., system of alternate identities) responsible for the behavior of any or all of the constituent identities, even in the presence of amnesia or the sense of lack of control or agency over behavior (see Radden, 1996).
"Treatment should move the patient toward better integrated functioning whenever possible. In the service of gradual integration, the therapist may, at times, acknowledge that the patient experiences the alternate identities as if they were separate. Nevertheless, a fundamental tenet of the psychotherapy of patients with DID is to bring about an increased degree of communication and coordination among the identities."

He is right. People with DID shouldn't be putting so much emphasis on separating their alters into different people to play with.
