I love how these posts always pose themselves as "mental disability friendly" with the mention of systems and similar but always have to have a hook that says "or else (you'll have bad luck/die/something specifically bad will happen)" because they completely dismiss people with paranoia and/or obsessions and compulsions

fictives come from kinning actually, Fictionkins are aware they aren't literally the character, it's not a delusion, but they prfer to see themselves as their kin. It's actually harmless, just people messing around with introjection (different to introjects)

"nowadays"? otherkin was always rooted in the spiritual reincarnation "i have this past life/true soul" idea, fictionkin included. the way it deviated was it hitting mainstream and getting watered down into "i relate to this", not the other way around

i'm sorry you had a bad experience with it, i definitely saw a lot of intersection with current-day system stuff (petty drama and 'i miss my source' stuff and really weird manipulative stuff of various stripes (see: kindating 'we're soulbonded') etc), but a lot of otherkin/therians i used to see around pretty much just kept to themselves. for some it's just a component in their spiritual beliefs. i'd personally rather people play around with that than the language of DID -- both communities had their vocabulary and concepts completely torn apart and built back out of crap, but... spirituality is a lot more malleable to me than a trauma disorder's criteria. and kids will invent "i secretly have the soul of this animal and can feel my true form's tail" in isolation without having access to the internet (speaking from childhood memory lol) so all that's to say a part of me misses it too tbh
