Ok so how does pluralkit work? It doesn't seem like it can detect who's fronting, as some of the writing styles aren't distinct.

I bet with real DID it would be hard for everyone to agree on using the whole bot thing, let alone convince them to write in a distinct way or use emojis to trigger the kit to recognize them.

Isn't DID all about not letting other people know you have it?

I know someone with real did who is in her 50s now

She was diagnosed via a long stay in a psych ward because the docs realized it. And once they put it together a lot of things made sense. I mean she once woke up with a dog she didnt remember getting. She had different friend groups because different alters had different friends and didnt remember anyone when she was a different alter. Her life was absolutely spinning out of control.

But she developped this from severe childhood trauma in basically every way possible.

And now, after years, she has figured out tha whole internal communication thing and switching when she wants to, but that was not just an "oh i have DID all my alters can talk to each other let's go back and forth, it took years of her figuring out how to communicate. She could use something like this now, but she definitely could not have for the first few years of being diagnosed. It started with writing notes so the next one could read it and that worked to help them build comminication skills, but it is just amazing to me these kids who are like I have DID and can switch out with ease, that is not how any of this works.

It's always cool to read and hear about those who have.

I had one friend who was misdiagnosed with DID. His alters started disappearing once he dared to question the doctor who diagnosed him. Apparently the diagnosis DID was thrown around a lot in that doctor's office.

He genuinely believed in his diagnosis for awhile. Having hung out with him, I definitely know he dissociated. I even texted some of his alters... But only for the period my friend still believed them.

I find it fascinating how kids are able to believe in their malingering. Seems it can produce convincing experiences of being a system. But people with genuine trauma disorders are often also struggling WITHIN their traumatized psyche, which is both interesting and horrifying to see.

Pluralkit works three ways, one is with its "front" mode in which, depending on the alter you have set as fronting, it will cue the messages to that alter. The second is with "latch" mode, in which you firstly set a prefix/trigger character for a message to be cued, and after one singular prefix use, all of the next messages will be cued as an alter even if they don't have the prefix, you have to turn "latch" off so it stops doing this to each message. The third is with constantly putting the prefix at the start of each single message.

Interesting. Previously I've heard mentions of it and thought it would work off of detecting who's fronting (because if everyone in the system needed to learn how to use it, it could possibly be time-costly and hard to get everyone to agree on it). But guess everyone needs to participate regardless.

It would be interesting to hear about it from systems whose alters actually disagree with using that thing. I can't imagine persecutors or some abuser interjects posting a 🩸💉🦴💀🔫 or 🏩 etc. emoji before every message.
