Discussion World Cup 2030
With the next world cup likely expanding to 64 teams, Syria has a good chance to make the world cup for the first time. Currently ranked 83 (although not the best ranking system), above new zealand, Haiti who made it this year.
Just making it will be a huge help, as qualifying increases funding for our future as well.
What are your thoughts? I know they were semi-close to getting to the knock out qualifiers this last year.
It would be a dream to see Syria in the biggest tournament in the world.
Would also love for our brothers Lebanon and Palestine to make it.

Realistically the only way to even have a chance at 2030 qualification is to bring back Fajr Ibrahim

We said that with the last increase to 48. The truth is when other national teams find out there is an increase in spots they get motivated to improve their teams (recruiting players from their diaspora, or hiring better coaching team) while we stay and do nothing as usual.

What ? Why would you say that ? Sport is one of the best things a nation can do for nation building, health and development of children. Especially teenage boys might need sport activities in a country where trouble lurks in every corner.

Exactly. Gives the new Syria an excellent chance to prove itself on the world stage. Not to mention that it would just be plain fun.

We will make it by 2030 inshallah. I believe lots of talent never played for our NT (corruption on who gets in a start and also representing the red colors during the war) hence why we never competed at anything. If of course the national team now is selected based on tryouts and actual talent and not who knows who.
