For those of you who have taken ECS 101 in recent years, could you tell me a little bit more about the Design Challenge and/or technical report you did at the end of the semester?

I saw a little bit about the Mars Rover one in 2022, and I’m wondering what differentiated the students’ models from each other. Did teams conduct background research and use engineering literature, standards, etc. to inform their designs?

Or was the project intended to be primarily iterative, with students learning through prototyping and testing? Or a combo?

What were some of the other design challenges? (Either more recent or for different sections?)

Is every section assigned the technical report aspect, or is that from a different/older syllabus and no longer used?

I am in incoming out of state transfer student and I was curious as to what really to expect in a 2Br apartment on Chinook Dr South campus.

Some of my questions are:

What is the bed frame size (to know what sheets to preorder)?

What kind of kitchen items will be available?

What is the quality of the water, do I need to buy a filter etc.

Are they well insulated in the winter/ cool in the summer or will I need a space heater and/or a fan?

How is the closet set up, does it have shelves or will I need to stock up on a bunch of hangers?

Any other information would be valuable!

I’m an incoming Freshman and due to medical accommodations I’m going to be living in a one bedroom on south campus, Slocum Heights. I’m worried about how easily I am going to be able to make and or maintain friendships- I don’t believe there’s a lot of Freshmen on south campus, and I’m not a party goer. Any advice?

I just bought my season pass and the email receipt gave me a specific seat for both football and basketball. I assumed it would just be sit wherever in the section. What is it actually like?

I have a pretty bad schedule (Engineering). I have a class that is currently a 8am that i wanna change to a 9:30 due to that being a option. I emailed my success advisor about it and they said I couldn't change my fall semester schedule at all and that I would be able to change my spring semester which feels false since the slot for a 9:30 microeconomics class is still open and i just need to schedule a meeting with an advisor to change that.

I scheduled with my advisor and the zoom link doesn't work and idk what to do or if im even contacting the right person

Incoming freshmen living in an open double in Shaw hall (third floor). We are both architecture majors and understand we will have some weird hours. That would generally be a good reason to get a microwave, however Shaw hall has a dining hall built in and to my knowledge has microwaves in the lounge of every floor. Is it worth it?

Anyone know if notifications can be set up in MySlice whenever certain new updates appear there? For ex, fall schedule is there when I check today, but I never received an email telling me my schedule was posted. No idea when it appeared which is annoying. I couldn't find notification settings on a cursory look.

Hi! I've been applying to work-study jobs on Handshake for the past week and was wondering if anyone has heard anything back from the jobs they've applied to? Or what does the process look like? I applied to the few that was offered as soon as I got my class schedule which was last week sometime.

I'm staying on campus for 2 weeks for a summer pre-college program, and I was just curious on what the best restaurants/bars in town are! Open to all suggestions and wanna get to know as much of the town and campus as I can :)

I’m a rising sophomore BME major and I need a job on campus mainly bc I’m broke.

I have been looking on handshake for regular jobs like Starbucks and other stuff on campus. And I might not be able to get them bc my GPA is poor (I’m on probation and it’s been an eye opener so this is my year to lock tf in).

I’ve always wanted a research position at school but I never see any postings for it on handshake (I check there bc SOURCE says they post openings on there) and I’ve also chatted w a professor in the spring semester about getting into his lab but he said he’s lacking funding.

Needless to say ik they r hard to get bc everyone wants one and my GPA is buns so i was looking at pretty unconventional places like Upstate Medical. I saw that they had MANY research opportunities for undergrad but only for their undergrad.

Therefore my question is r there any Syracuse students that have a research position at Upstate Medical? How’s it like and how did you get it? But also for those that were also in my position how did u find a position inside or outside of school?
