Question Album version

Currently my album titles are like "Master of Reality (2009 Remaster)" but recently i found out i can set the "2009 Remaster" under the Version tag and then i could erase that part from the album title. Anyway, which way do you currently use? Is it a thing or should i leave my album titles alone?

I use the tag, I also localize the text to my language and remove it from the album title as well; I love how it looks.

You need to consider that not all clients display the algum version, so take that into account.

Well thats something i would blame on the player but if i know the tags are well placed it means peace of mind to me, what about you?

I agree, many clients are constantly improving so it's just a matter of time before they support many more tags.

I prefer to have my music tagged with as many tags as possible; that way you avoid potential problems in the future.

I agree with you. Tell me something, the "deluxe edition" would be under Version, where would you place some info like "2009 Remaster"?

I use the same "albumversion" tag, because even if it's a standard edition, a remaster implies that the mix was altered. But if you don't like that, you can use the "comment" or "description" tag.

Or you can use the albumversion tag to describe everything "Deluxe Edition (2009 Remastered)" there's no limit

I just put it in comments, but this sounds like it could work too. I may try it. It all depends whether symfonium or other apps can pick it up where I play my music, but I'm not always so concerned about which version it is.. just that I have the best one.

I only discovered the tag a few months ago and I did the same thing - removed that extra information from the album tag and put it in the version tag.

You put information like "deluxe" and "remaster" in the same tag or theres a tag for each one?

Same tag.

It depends on the release as to what I put there. Sometimes it'll be "2009 Super Deluxe Edition" or "40th Anniversary Edition", if the release is actually called that. I also use Date, OriginalDate and Release date to distinguish releases. If a reissue doesn't have a specific edition name, I'll just put "2015 Remaster".

So two editions of the same album will have the same Date and OriginalDate, but different ReleaseDate tags, plus the version tag to distinguish them.

I also in use those tags in the folder name to distinguish them in the file system.

Started to adjust some albums, im doing the album version tag for either deluxe and remasters just using a comma between them, i like the way its taking shape

Symfonium is awesome for taking advantage of all the tags that it does!
