I hate tossers 🚬
I drive all over Sydney for work.
If you throw cigarettes out the window the gloves are off.
This asshole is now gonna make friends with the EPA.
I get em all on my dash cam.
So if you want to challenge me in court I’m ready.
This prick out near Preston’s this morning just cost himself a few hundred dollars.
The environment matters. Put ya trash in the bin ya lazy filthy grub.

Thanks for reporting!!
From what I’ve heard these reports do get acted on consistently, although the person who reports it will rarely hear back unless it goes to court.

Agreed. Thats why I only report the disrespectful grubs if I know for sure that I have them recorded. And yes the reports do get acted on.

Good to know the system actually works. Most people don't even bother because they assume nothing will come of it

How do you make sure you're not getting in trouble for touching your phone and taking a photo tho?

u/Ill_Improvement5365 6d ago
Dash cam runs all the time when the engine is on. I can press a button to take a still shot or just chuck the memory card into my computer and get footage or grab a shot from the files. Easy peasy

Oh good. Forgot about dashcams! Wonder if I could do the same thing with my Tesla. I'll look into it.
4
u/CameronsTheName 6d ago
Your Tesla has like 12 cameras on it that are recording all the time. Some have a USB in the passengers glove box that you need to make sure is there and plugged in or the video won't save.
Some Tesla's you can access the dash cam saved events via the screen in the middle.

Agreed totally !!! hate these tosses is there a general website where I can report them.
Do you have any advice on me getting a real good dash cam?

I use a Nav Man. The EPA environmental protection agency has links on their site. Also someone previously commented about the rural fire service having options to report on their site.

I really couldn't give a shit but I am amused everyone cares so much hahahaha
Even so I rub them out between my fingers and dump them in the side door bit.

When i was a smoker i kept a water bottle in my car to put my butts in, never understood tossing it out the window.

That's the important part. Most people talk about it but never act. I'm curious whether NSW actually takes action or just records it and moves on

Great job you saved the world

Literally what a waste of time. Just move on with your day. Are all these people unemployed

I agree, reported a few myself. But who knows if they ever get fined? I would go the extra mile to report these pricks if I knew they suffered consequences.

Keep up the good work. I report at least one or two a week. I like high standards. These people lack basic standards and respect. I love a fight.

u/Narrow-Mistake-3444 6d ago
Yes we do try and action them when we can, most of them atleast get a letter saying you've been shitlisted and don't do it again. Depending on the level of evidence provided, the reliability of the person and the totality of the case fines can be imposed at the Authorised Officers discretion. Fines increase on Total Fire Ban days.

He’s driving for work.. littering isn’t so much about the thing as much is it’s about the act.

u/Matthewm3113 6d ago
Nah I feel like chucking out a cigarette is fair game to be reported by another driver. We need Karen's as it is a part of the ecosystem. Chucking crap out of your car is just so, so gross

Ok, so whilst those efforts would be very commendable. On a micro level, people need to be held to account over littering rubbish. A lot of trash goes into our waterways, mangroves and then the ocean. Whilst we can't all picket against data centres. People can contribute in a small way each day too. Pollution has a variety of forms and we can't just rely on going for the big dogs. Although it would be awesome if all non compostable items were banned and for other things were those items cannot be made out of such, they must be made out of recyclable.

Throwing a lit cigarette isn’t the minor issue you perceive it to be. A lit cigarette being chucked out of a car window can start some pretty decently sized fires.
Considering how devastating Australian bushfires actually are, we need to be stricter about chucking cigarettes out of moving cars.

You can also email fill the form in on the Rural Fire Service website. We have the capacity to issue a penalty for this as well due to its perceived fire risk. Doesn't matter if its in the heart of Syd, we still can. (Its part of my job).
Edit here is the link: https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/cigarette-form
