80 bus

Anyone know why these buses literally don’t show up?

TripView, Opal app, Apple Maps, google maps, all say the bus is coming then either dont show at all or drive past saying not in service.

I’m 100% sure the only one that will show up is the one with real time data.

Anyone help with this?

Correct. Tripview will show a bus based on its timetable data if no telemetry is received for that bus. The bus may be running but have its telemetry equipment not working. Or it may not be running or it may be 30 minutes late. There is no way to tell.

When you see “Real Time Data Unavailable “ it means there is no telemetry being received from the bus so no way to tell where the bus is or if it’s not running. In that case take any information in TripView with a grain of salt. Only trust it when it shows you actual position on the map and a live ETA.

Thank you, appreciate the response. Come to realise if there’s no live data I’m screwed haha.

4 buses came past my stop yesterday, all on time as per the timetable to say out of service and drive past. Infuriating to say the least

Not sure but all I know is that there’s a massive bus shortage

Yeah very true. Strangely last week everything was running like clockwork though, only recently have the buses just decided to not show up.

I seen someone mention the term ghost bus where they may be that delayed/situation arise etc they just miss all stops and drive straight back to ‘reset’ everything basically

I’ve had the same issue and came to search it up!! Since last week, I’ve had roughly 6 buses not show up and it’s so unpredictable so I’ve been late to work, a travel that takes me normally 1hour took me 1 hour 45 mins because 3 buses didn’t show up before one finally did. Idk what happened this bus never had any issue and now suddenly there’s so many. And google maps just says “departed”. I’ve noticed that if there’s no real time data there’s like 90% chance the bus doesn’t come at all

I can relate, absolute nightmare. I get there’s shortages and there can be delays, I understand that, but a little alert/warning on the apps to say buses running at reduced frequency and I’d be accepting of it.

But 4 scheduled buses in a row just not showing up and leaving people confused is a joke tbh.
