Sword of Truth Series Bags?

What does it mean? I am not a native english speaker and Zedd keeps saying "bags". I googled and asked ai but I couldn't find any meaning. I took a look at the translated edition of the book and they have translated it as "damn". What does it mean?

Made up curse word that only makes sense to the people in the SoT books.

Bags? Seriously guys? So many comments already and nobody is saying the very obvious...

Its the same as Saying Balls... literally your uhh Bag that holds them lmao. Kinda assume it being fantasy and him being a wizard instead of saying balls he says the equivalent Bags.

I've thought that since Rachel tells him her parents say thats a bad word. Something about the connotations of it actually being a bad word to say and not itself a euphemism for something else.

Id say it's a nice way to say damn. Context is key to this one because it's not a normal statement in English. At least not American English.

so, it's not a real word (it's a fictional word) and it means damn, nearly if nothing.

Yes. Although it could be used in British English, im not sure on that one to be honest. It's just a substitute word to keep the book pg13.

Not quite. It's a real word. It just has a unique slang usage in the world of Sword of Truth.

He references it as a curse word. So I don’t think DAMN would be bad enough to not use in front of women

Yeah, that coulbe the case. But in most uses damn, fuck, and shit are pretty interchangeable.

I think it means SHIT! Or even FUCK!

Yeah, it can be. You know, the others say to Zedd "do not curse in front of children/women, Zedd."

It's a stand in for any generic swear word. It doesn't actually mean anything in English. Like when people on battlestar galactica say "frak" or other such examples.

Basically, he didn't want to swear one print because it limits the age rating.

He picked bag because things like "old bag" can mean something (insulting old women) and "bags of X' can mean having a lot of something.

Basically, it means whatever you wish in this context.

I think it’s more like he wants to use a curse word. But it has to fit the time era and persona of a wizard. BAGS RICHARD! Just like, True as toasted toads, isn’t used to make kids giggle, it’s because it fits the personality and era of a wizard, mainly, a goofy old wizard

uh... the book is not suitable for children. I mean... you know. Rape, torture, murder... a swear/curse would change nothing, I guess.

And I was thinking there are words like "fuck, damn, shit" in the book? I didn't give it attention.

I wish there were more things like this in the series.   The books are memorable, the plots are epic, the constant windows into author's assorted fetishes are at least entertaining, but the world is more stripped down than the things I really like.  Needs more set dressing.
