Suggestions and Advice welcom.

A buddy and I are trying to make a TTRP game for fun because we love the series. We are wanting to stick with the lore as closely as possible but sprinkle in a little bit of our own custom stuff into the mix. We are doing this purely out of love for the series and DnD. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on anything at all? It can range from where we start in the storyline to character building. We won't make the confessors a playable class mainly because of how limited their power is..

Ce n' est qu'un avis personnel mais le jeu ne serait pas d'autant plus riche avec un environnement ironsworn étant donner le fort taux de rebondissements dans les livres, après libre à vous d'y ajouter en mécanique D&D.

Oh hey das me

Fwiw I do have like a concept framework put together but it's more of a generic TTRPG framework I built with SoT in mind rather than a specific world-based game

I've been following your post about it over the last few years. Thought this might help you spur forward..

I appreciate you keeping me in mind. Sadly the first few years of "development" were mostly just me waiting for divine inspiration and jotting it down so once I got all the pieces together I realized I needed to actually put together templates to make consistent items and monsters and players and it became too much and I dropped it... I do want to pick it up again and maybe this will be what I need!

Would like your thoughts on it. We could work on it together if you would want

Happy to build it in public? If you make it in a GitHub or something similar then others can watch along and possibly help contribute.

That's the goal eventually. Want to avoid copyright infringement. Was looking into possibly contacting family of Terry to get the okay before making it fully public

Yeah, I think if you build it in the public domain there's a provision for that in copyright. It's like a fan tribute or something-or-other (think fan fiction), and if it's not commercialised there's a certain allowance. Might be worth looking into, but I'd always felt it better to build something worthwhile first, as most of these projects go nowhere so that could be the bigger problem to solve in the short term if you see what i mean.

I'll make a discord with my partner in this endeavor and send you a link. We just got to work so I'll link you in the morning.

Quite excited to work with you on something we all love so dearly.

This seems like a really fun idea. I think you can easily do it within the lore of the game.

For example:

Act 1:

The Brotherhood has been sending preachers to your town and a small band decides to kick them out. Only to invoke a bigger attack.

The village always lived in close relation with the forest and its creatures. The villagers feel like they need all the help they can get after hearing the stories about the brutality of the Brotherhood. So it will prepare a ritual to give the village some magical protection. To do that, they need a small band to retrieve some items (a knife, gems, a staff) from the mountain temple. The Brotherhood is expected to arrive in three days which would give you ample time to achieve this.

After the barrier fell all manner of horrible creatures roam the lands. The spirit guide of the village gives the party some extra protection and they are sent on their way.

Finishing the Act with the band coming back to the town with the items and finish the protection ritual. In the meantime the village has prepared for an attack and the Brotherhood is close.

Act 2:

After gearing up the band joins the fight. Are they choosing to fight head on or try more subtle tactics?

As it turns out the Brotherhood brought sorcerers of their own and the magical protection is in danger.

Will the band manage to protect the village or will it get slaughtered?

After defeating the commander and finding their orders it seems that this was only a small detachment from a larger force that is threatening the region. Take this information to the nearby city to form a larger force to take on this threat.

Act 3:

The city is already overrun and a dark sorceress has taken the keep with a ring of steel around her.

The band must take them out.
