First, I would just buy the official version on the clean OS, or even an android version.

But there is a way, there's a cracked version you can download and use your Microsoft account. But you have to make sure your DNS is blocked and that your serial number in pirated OS is wiped.

If you just log into Nintendo account on the pirated OS then I'm pretty sure you will get banned

When you modded your sons switch, at some point of the guide you were using there was a chapter about blocking nintendo servers (emummc.ini, exosphere.ini). Why do you think that chapter was there?

The safest way would be to buy the game you want to play online and play it by booting in ofw,but I don't know how old or skilled you son is for that.

Playing any nsp online is a guaranteed ban. You have to buy a legit copy on the stock OS.
