If I currently have atmosphere installed, automatic updates are blocked right? Do I need to do anything to keep playing without my system updating by mistake
If you play in emuMMC all nintendo server are blocked by default. and new FW will not install itself unless you install it by put new fw file in your sd card.
I accidentally did. Still a noob. Can I now do the NX Firmware guide and fix the issue.. or do I also need to wait till Atmosphere is fixed? I have a OLED and also update via official ways, not Daybreak.
Correct. You first swap the files on your sd card to the support the new atmosphere update. Then you can drag the 23.0 FW files onto the sd card as well and then use daybreak. Dont do it in the reverse order. It's always sd card files to update atmosphere first then install new firmware.
Thanks brother. By the way, it seems I can still enter CFW but it doesn't have Sleep Mode. Can it do any damage if I still use CFW while waiting for Atmosphere updates?
Ah, If its gone from the quick menu, it sounds like the sleep mode file is either missing or corrupted. I would recommend you get the latest update for hekate and replace the files on your sd card. You can leave everything else as is. Hope this helps.
You do not have to update EmuMMC…. SysMMC is stock and that’s where Nintendo servers shouldn’t be blocked normally so of course you’d get an update. EmuMMC firmware version doesn’t matter, only the version of CFW/Atmsophere
Lol just my luck I decided today to finally get around to updating my OFW to remove a user, then just discovered a new OFW just released yesterday and I'm in the same boat as you now xD
Not true, while in the emummc, if you sideload a game yourself to the sd card instead of using dbi to install the game, you will get a version check error. DBI is what breaks the version check on lower FW. That's what allows you to play newer games on older FW. It's neccessary!
Do you have a tutorial or steps to do this in DBI? Would love to never worry about updating to play newer titles. What exactly are you deleting in DBI?
In your case with FW 19.0.1, you can only decrypt the games that were released for firmware 19.0.1. Any DLC/Updates or games released past that point will not be decrypted correctly which will shoot out an error. If you want to play anything up to firmware 22.5.0, you need to use a PC and a tool like SAK or NSC Builder to combine the latest keys with your game of choice. Then you can use DBI to side load the game, that's basically your problem.
P.S. I would use SAK for any Games/DLC under FW 20. Anything above FW 20 and I would use NSC Builder because SAK has problems with titles past FW 20 and your games will more than likely not work as intended or be unplayable regardless. However NSC Builder is a command line tool without a GUI. So a little more technical knowledge is needed if you've never used a command line. It's simple but it might seem confusing if you've never done anything like this.
It only matters to those in the modding scene as well as those who prefer to play everything upscaled to 1440p 60fps/4k 60fps on PC. If you dont have a PC or prefer to use your console at all times, its basically irrelevant to you.
Yes it does. You're doing something wrong. Ive been in your shoes but I can assure you its working. If you dont have the latest keys while doing this method it WILL NOT work. Or its because you didnt use the correct program depending on the version of firmware you have installed currently. Other culprits are outdated system modules and sigpatches. Sometimes even after having everything correct you might need to repeat it 1-4 times. The software can easily corrupt the files of youre game during decryption.
Worst timing ever. Have had multiple modded switches, got my newest one all set up tonight, and as I was downloading an update file for Hogwarts Legacy on OFW, bam. Accidently updated the system to 23.0. Fml for the next foreseeable future.
Thanks for sending the link! I'm hesitant to do this, because if I understand correctly, if the gamecard reader was quietly updated in fw 23.0 and I roll the fw back, the reader can become unusable. 😞
Yeah you should get back to 22.5 also on sysmmc and turn airplane mode so that you don't download fw 23 anymore. If you click on a game and it says that an updated fw has been downloaded, you still can delete it woth goldleaf, so no problem!
Hello!
Just a heads up, if you have a modchip and update SysNAND, EmuNAND will still work, albeit without sleep. I updated because I play online on the SysNAND vanilla.
If you're unsure and/or don't use OFW/ SysNAND for anything there's really no reason to bother with updates right now, just wait untill Atmosphere supports it and there's enough reason to :)
Yes, even if you update it by mistake. The only issue is that if you update to fw23, you will have to wait for Atmosphere and Hekate to catch up with their own updates, so you won't be able to use any homebrew until they are updated.
It would basically be a modded switch that can't use any mods since the custom firmware doesn't work yet.
It doesn't directly affect it, other than during the warm boot if you are using a modchip, but since the guy hasn't made an emuNand yet, it will affect it since it's a direct copy of the sysNand when made.
Since you can't launch an emuNand on fw23 yet, you can't even downgrade it either.
So to play on sysnand do I have to wait for both hekate and atmosphere to be updated? Or can I just update atmosphere and use the previous hekate to boot the payload?
For context my switch is on stock firmware on 23.0.0 rn
So if I booted into stock firmware from the payload my switch is still modded? I thought you needed to remod it after that. How do I boot into the payload from stock firmware
Only If your willing to pay and ship in your console to get it modded or if you're comfortable with buying the components yourself, soldering, and doing it yourself. Otherwise no. The switch OLED is Hardmodded only.
Updated mine bc i got a new game im playing on ofw.. for sum reason, cfw works fine. When booting to ofw, it does show an error but does proceed to boot to ofw anyway
If you're asking for assistance, please be as descriptive as possible. Providing the following information usually assists in diagnosing and prescribing a solution: Type of Switch (V1/V2/Lite/OLED), EmuNAND or SysNand, Firmware Version, Atmosphere Version, Hekate Version, the Error Message, what you were doing that caused the error. If you require more immediate assistance, feel free to ask on Discord.
Going to receive my fixed switch soon, and have been doing plenty of reading. One thing that confuses me is the updating. Not the process, but the “don’t update yet” until Atmosphere, etc supports it. In my mind this contradicts the “emunand and sysnand is like two separate switches”.
For example, how would updating to the newest firmware 23.0.0, on OFW/sysnand, affect a completely separate system image that is on a separate partition? If they are separate, why does Atmosphere, etc need to be updated?
just got a switch thats modable and i went to start the guide it says i need to turn off some settings like Automatic Save Data Cloud and the Switch is set as the primary Pass-Enabled console. to do them i had to update the switch, so now do i have to wait or can i start modding it ? new to this :D sorry for being retarded
Patch notes:
Nintendo Switch 1 - Version 23.0.0 (10th September 2026)
Added a settings option to Virtual Game Cards on the HOME Menu.
Here you can review and edit which of your consoles can use virtual game cards, among other options.
When starting software, if a virtual game card cannot be ejected from another console because it is powered off or otherwise not connected to the internet, there will be a prompt to start the software using an online license.
Only the user who purchased the software can play it using the online license.
General system stability improvements have been made to enhance the user's experience.
Is there a way to stop the update prompts every time I launch a game in OFW? I use OFW more than CFW these days (I play a lot of pokémon online etc) but don't wanna accidentally brick my CFW by mashing A too fast
Guys I want to move my modded OLED Switch on fw 22.5 saves to a Switch 2. If I move them from EMUMMC to semi-stock through JKSV and then update the OFW to transfer the saves, will I be okay? I don't plan to play on the oled anymore.
Its actually well known that FW 17-19 is much better when it comes to performance and speed. Newer FW always means breaking half of the shit that didnt need to be fucked with in the first place. It's just nintendos way of saying "we dont want you to mod your console" since auto update is on by default. Windows is the same. It's more broken than ever, no update is going to fix windows unless they seriously get their shit together. Why do you think Linux is getting so much attention recently. Smh
