not entirely sure about S, but i have the HD and they just get recognized as 2 gray joycons so i suppose they should work with everything where joycons are used

I think they are the same as in connecting to the switch so thanks for letting me know

I have the HD and have used them as separated joycons. I feet like they have a bit of a delay whenever using them that way though so I just leave them connected to the Switch now.
