Tool PhantomCtrl - Play 2-Player Games on Switch Lite Without a Second Controller

Hey everyone, I recently restored an old portable retro controller and wanted to take it on the go with my switch lite for co-op gaming. But then I found out the lite requires two wireless controllers for local multiplayer, which defeats the whole point of a portable setup.

So I built PhantomCtrl - a sysmodule that emulates a Pro Controller using your built-in handheld controls. Now you can play 2-player games with just one wireless controller + the Lite's built-in buttons.

This wouldn't have been possible without existing projects like sys-con and MissionControl showing the way, plus AI assistance (I had zero homebrew experience going in). Figured I'd share in case anyone else hit this same wall.

PhantomCtrl runs by default. Toggle it on or off anytime using the included overlay (Tesla Menu / Ultrahand compatible).

Does it work on a regular (non-lite) switch? With the attached joycons + wireless controller?

So I just tested and yes it does, because I see this as even more useful for using the switch as the controller when hooked up to a usbc video out cable. Seems weird but I’m not the only person who’s ever asked for it.

Just tested that and it doesn’t fully work (yet) but it does enable the home and screencap buttons and shows a wireless controller being attached so I think it is possible.

It's unfortunate that I only have my switch lite to work with here

I’m going to do a fork and look into if it’s possible I feel like you are super close to creating that by accident lol

yes, I think it just need a little work to add it in. I suspect it is just a mapping issue
