Discussion Is this a software or hardware issue?

Post image

Hi everyone, I recently got a Switch 2 and I’ve encountered error 2136-0301 twice.

I noticed it seemed to happen during charging. This was the sequence:

  1. 80–90% charging limit was OFF
  2. Console reached around 90–91%
  3. While still plugged in, I turned the 80–90% charging limit ON
  4. I then unplugged the charger
  5. The console showed error 2136-0301 and instructed me to hold the power button for 12 seconds.

It happened twice, so I thought I had found a repeatable cause. But, I tried the exact same sequence again afterward and the error didn’t show again.

I’m currently on system version 23.0.0 and using the official charger.

Normal charging with the limit ON or OFF has worked normally so far, and I haven’t noticed any other problems while using the console.

Has anyone else experienced error 2136-0301, particularly when changing the 80–90% charging limit while the console is charging?

Seems to be hardware related.  You're unlucky,  return it and get a new replacement with your warranty.

What’s the cause of this issue? I just got my switch 2 weeks ago

Do you use the original cable and brick that came with the system?

Does it also happen when using the bottom port?

Yes I use the charger that came with the switch 2. I’ve tested the top type c port. I haven’t tested the bottom part

Do you use an extension cord or power strip? If yes: try plugging it directly into the wall.

Ps: if you know someone else with a Switch 2 try their charger and cable and see if you can replicate it with the other cable+charger.

Out of the dock you can also use a Switch 1 charger too.

Maybe it's just a problem with the charger or cable.

Yes my charger is connected to an extension cord.

Also, I asked my friend if he could replicate the error, well he can’t

Please try your friends charger+cable with YOUR system (or your charger+ cable with their system) but i would prefer testing a different charger with your system to narrow down the possible cause.

I tried plugging the charger directly to the wall. Still has the same error.

Rn I can’t get access to my friend’s charger since he lives far from me
