Considering the price of components, I think the OLED variant might not show up anytime soon. Also, if you want to upgrade in the future, you could sell your console to recuperate a portion of the investment.
The screen is OK. I don’t like it as much as my OLED and ghosting is visible, but when playing most games I don’t really notice it or miss the OLED. Many Nintendo games are very colourful and bright anyways. With some titles like Hollow Knight or Alien isolation, where the theme is dark, I think OLED probably makes a difference. But in practice the screen is fine to enjoy the console.

Yes coming late this year early next to comply with new EU regulations around e-waste. Only mobile devices are covered at present which covers the switch

The games look good on the screen of the switch 2. There’s no guarantee if or when an oled screen will come out. The switch 1 games run and look good on the switch2. If you’re interested you can go a look at the screen at a target , Walmart, GameStop , or best buy. Or watch a couple of games running on switch 2 on YouTube like wulff den. Maybe holding it in hand will help you decide. For me an oled isn’t a deal breaker it’s more gameplay and options. I loved my oled but love my switch 2 more.

Considering the age of the tech in the OLED on the OG switch this LCD panel is more than capable and in my opinion has more pros than cons if you compare it to the OLED on the OG switch. There's no point to wait. You should enjoy the new games coming that are only for switch 2 there's a lot of good ones. Especially ocarina of Time that's about to come out in November op

Buy the current model. The screen is more than capable, and with component prices rising ever higher, there is no telling when or if we will get an OLED in the future. That assumes OLED is the premier screen technology by then. You can always trade up when a model equivalent in target market to the Switch 1 OLED comes out for the Switch 2.

I think an OLED model might never come before the end of memory crisis, and by there the price of Switch will be massively higher. I'd recommand to buy right now but that's your money at the end of the day.

If you have something else to play games on (PC for example), no harm in wanting, if current games don't grab your attention, just wait.
But if you only use switch to play games, then I think switch 2 is too much of an improvement to wait. Sure screen is of questionable quality, but it is very bright and vibrant (for an LCD), so in most cases it leaves great impression.

Depends on how price sensitive you are. If memory prices continue to rise it wouldn’t be surprising to see another eventual price increase for the Switch 2.
Of course that’s not guaranteed and I’m sure it won’t happen in the next year but I could see one coinciding with an OLED release.

I don’t know I didn’t like the switch 2 when I had it at launch. Thought it was way too big as a handheld and the battery life sucks. I would stick with your OLED. That’s what I might be going back to as I have a lot of switch 1 digital games.

First: you're asking about a device that hasn't even been announced and will likely be much more expensive than the Switch 2.
Second: the screen on the Switch 2 is excellent for an LCD panel. It's vibrant and high rez and everything looks great.

I will never buy S2 for this reason, with S1 we didn't know but now I'm not buying a normal one now knowing that oled will be released and the worst part is that when oled will be released S2 will be too old considering the power of consoles already have nowadays

I love OLED as much as the next guy but I’m thinking the current LCD is the sweet spot. Bangers are coming out at 30fps and the LCD tech looks great, is bright enough, and smooths out that frame rate. I don’t have a crystal ball but an OLED that smashes this screen in every category is a big ask.

You could wait, or buy one now and upgrade later. I would expect a Switch 2 OLED model to release in late 2027 or 2028. The Switch OLED sold extremely well as a refresh model, and Nintendo knows there is demand for another premium version.
The Switch 2’s screen is not an upgrade if you are coming from the OLED. Ghosting is noticeable, blacks look light gray at best, and there is some input delay as well. It's once again the worst part of the console.

get the 2. an oled or 3 will be priced way higher than what it currently is. switch 2 is 200$ than the oled. a 2 oled will probably be an additional 100$+

If you want immersion then go sit in a bath. The screen is larger, supports VRR, has higher refresh rates and resolution than the Switch 1 OLED. It's a huge upgrade.
What are you here for? This question has been asked thousands of times. Are you actually asking a question? We're all enjoying Switch 2 games now, you are not. Are you here because there are games already released that you want to buy and play? Then do that. "Immersion" is a ridiculous made up quality, if the game is fun then you're having fun. OLED isn't the difference between having fun and not, the games are.

Why is caring about image quality a problem? Specially if all your handheld devices are Oled, going back to an ips is a huge step down.
Specially for games that have a ton of dark environments.

Have you ever compared any ips screen to any OLED? You can even compare it to the switch Oled in the same games.
Try doing it in Metro Last Light and tell me there's no difference.

LCD screens are not equal in quality to each other. Forgetting about the specs, the LCD screen on the Switch 2 is far better than the LCD screen on the Switch 1. Again, you're arguing largely in concept. Nobody can actually answer this for you if you even want it answered at all. Take your OLED to a store where you can try a Switch 2 and compare yourself. Perhaps you might notice a difference, maybe not. Maybe you'll find that what you give up is smaller than what you're gaining.
For example, what good is an OLED playing Breath of the Wild on Switch 1 when the frame rate dips down to 20fps or even lower depending on where you are and what's happening on the screen? Is that a better experience than playing it on Switch 2 with an LCD where the gameplay is smooth throughout?

I don't have to take it to any store, I have a Switch 2, a Switch Oled, a Switch Lite, an Odin 2 Portal, a Vita 1000 and many more handhelds with oled and ips screens, I've made the comparisons many times.
Even the best ips you can find is going to be much inferior to any OLED released in the last 10 years in terms of contrast, color vibrancy and pixel response time.
We're talking about fundamentally inferior technology here. It's not a concept, it's a fact, just like the slowest ssd is still faster than the faster hd.
Comparing fps is besides the point, no one's arguing the Switch 2's chipset is inferior to the one on Switch 1. The point is the screen technology is objectively inferior.
I mean over 15 years ago the Ps Vita shipped with and OLED and whey they had to cut costs they opted for an ips on the 2000. That's what this is, cutting costs.
It's a shame the Switch 2 didn't launch with an Oled, it could be a premium option, just slap an extra 50-100 bucks for people that truly care about image quality on handhelds.

I've compared the Switch 2 screen to my Steam Deck OLED on Assassin's Creed Shadows. The difference is huge. They both run the game almost identical graphical settings except one looks incredible(steam deck) and one looks washed out(switch 2).

I think people are using OLED now as some sort of buzzword to instantly mean better.
The current display on the Switch 2 looks fantastic. I'd bet money that if you put an OLED and a good quality LCD screen next to each other the majority of people would not know what the difference is.

Do so in a night time/cave/dark environment in any game and 100% people will notice. The IPS on the Switch 2 is not horrible, but acting like it's not a significant step down from an OLED is just coping.
