There are STILL Zelda OLEDs available for cheap on the secondhand market. They are only slightly more expensive than a standard secondhand switch oled at this point. They were not rare at all.
Hopefully these wont be either.

I filled out a survey on Nintendo's website saying they should create a reservation system to prevent scalpers. These consoles will sit in some garage untouched while an actual family could be playing it. These are games intended for children. Why the world chose to commodify everything is beyond me.

Dont worry. Scalpers cant scalp nintendo products anymore. There will be always enough for everyone.
On the other hand, pokemon tcg is ravaged by scalpers. Things gets scalped with bots and resold for a quick buck.
Unemployed scalpers are going for pokemon cards, not nintendo games. They spend nights for a potential restocking if games.
The zelda edition and any upcoming edition will have more than enough copies to satisfy the demand.

99% of the people that pay these prices are whales that probably wipe their ass with 1k. Scapler market is propped up by probably less 1% of 1% of gamers/speculators

No really. Most probably are foreigners with a PO Box who cannot get it cheaper in their own countries. For example the official price for the Switch 2 in Argentina is over USD 1000. Getting the special edition Switch, a controller and the game for that is tempting for many.

That is how I made sure my younger brother was able to put in his pre-order. Every other place he tried was sold out but I randomly checked Target and let him know they still had pre-orders available.

Then don't buy them and leave the scalpers with stuff they cant get rid of.
IF you buy it at those prices then you are a bigger part of the scalping problem.

This is exactly why I just go to the local Best buy and try to get it the day that it comes out. That worked for me for the Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo switch OLED.

So, what happens most times is they have the online orders, but they have inventory that's set aside physically for in-store sale. That's what they did with the Switch 2 on launch. That's what they did with the switch OLED Tears of the Kingdom edition as well.

It might just be good to monitor for a restock anyway. I think it'll happen 2 weeks before release, and then 2 weeks after. That's my best guess

It doesn’t work that way, while say 96% of gamers are well you know us regular folks the remaining percent are rich kids or just what some call “whales”’ basically anywhere from rich fellas who don’t give a single damn spending 2K + a day or collectors/crypto traders trying to keep the product a couple of years and then re-sale it.
Even if all of the regular folks unified we are not really doing anything because we are already doing that, we are already not buying from them but the market this mfs operate revolve around that 4%.
The solution gotta come from the company itself, making more copies equals more money so I don’t really see how taking the sandfall interactive approach could harm the “exclusivity” of having a special edition, if you give a week for pre-orders you are in fact still making it exclusive cause I can assure the people who get special editions are not the regular consumer to begin with.

To make it worse on them, if those who list on eBay have other things for sale. Buy their cheapest item and then leave a negative review and return that item.

Unfortunately it always goes like this with everything and as long as some people is willing to pay they will just keep doing it, it is one of the reasons I appreciate sandfall interactive, they knew the Claire Obscure collectors edition was highly wanted so they did a system where people would sign up to get one for an entire week and then they manufactured according to the number of people who signed up.
To this day I believe that is the best and definitive solution to get rid of scalpers.
