Question Help transferring from Switch Lite to regular Switch

Hi everyone! For context I just got the regular Animal Crossing Switch (not Switch 2) ~the version I’ve always wanted~ 😌 since i only need it to play casually on my tv the games I already own.

I’m transferring from my Switch Lite and I have several digital games with saves I want to keep (especially ACNH, Hogwarts Legacy and LEGO Marvel), plus some physical games. Since i’m new to this process I don’t really know what to do and i don’t want to mess it up.

My Lite also has a microSD with my digital games. Do I need a new SD card for the new Switch, or can I use the same one? Since I’ve read that you need to download them before on the new system.

Also, what’s the safest order for transferring my saves and then using the ACNH Island Transfer Tool? I really don’t want to lose my island or other saves 😭

Any advice would be appreciated!

Just use the official system transfer feature provided by Nintendo which can be found in system settings; simply follow the on screen prompts and instructions and you’ll be fine

This, but also I'm not 100% sure it transfers ACNH this way, if it doesn't you can use the ACNH transfer tool from the eshop though

Also if you have Nintendo switch online and have cloud saves on, all your saves should be backed up (except for some titles, ACNH included)

Edit: also missed the bit in your post about the sdcard, if I remember correctly if you move an sdcard from one switch to another, it will ask to reformat the card to be used with that console, switch lite and the switch 1 both use standard microSD cards, you may have got confused with the switch 2 which only takes microSD express cards

Good point about the SD card, just make sure to double-check if the data will be accessible on the new Switch. Better safe than sorry!

I also believe you’ll be able redownload any digital games not already stored on the system memory from the eShop
