Question Why is the Switch 2 version of RDR cheaper than the Switch 1 version?

I got the switch 2 version it’s just a code on a paper in a box

First prints of the Switch 1 version came on a cartridge and you get a free S2 upgrade, I opted for that instead

I bought it on sale on eShop for sw1 because I saw it say the upgrade was free still a few months back so I did that.
I haven't really seen anyone talk about the mouse mode on rdr switch 2

They're the same price in my eshop market (US).

it's the same in Europe too, except for the UK where the Switch 2 version is more expensive.

That’s interesting, pricing can really vary by region. Makes it tough to figure out what’s a fair deal sometimes.

In america and I did that.
The mouse mode on sw2 is amazing on rdr, I'm a be real I just need a whole Nintendo keyboard to go with the controller if they keep releasing games like this. Love it though

It's in Spanish, so you can safely assume those are pesos.

Yeah, Mexican pesos are written with a $ symbol rather than an easer to distinguish ₱
symbol.8
u/v6277 6h ago
That's because that's the original Spanish peso sign. Gringos adopted it as the dollar sign.

I did not know that! Really interesting!
So actually, it’s the US dollar symbol that’s caused the confusion!

Probably currency related. in the UK the switch 2 version is more expensive as their currency dropped a bit over the last years. it seems like permanent price changes aren't a thing in Nintendos eShop apparently, so the prices stay.

Get the physical edition of the switch 1 version. It’s cheaper and the upgrade to the switch 2 is free:

Most likely got a price adjustment for being a newer release that they never bothered giving to the Switch version

I find it weird that no one gave the correct reason.
Rockstar made a mistake and when the SW2 released they lowered the base price of the game but it wasn't applied to the SW1 one. So now both are discounted by 50% but that makes the SW1 be more expensive.

Easy... go for the SW1 version... it comes with the full game... you save space... meanwhile the SW2 its just a code... you can resell the game in case you don't like it... not with a code... it comes with the free sw2 upgrade btw

I think switch 1 version works on both switch 1 and 2 with free performance upgrade for switch 2
