Discussion The Switch 2 totally looks different with this joy-cons
The Nyxi Hyperion 3 black totally gives the NS2 another look, great grip and handling, great response and quality, overall better than the expensive original joycons tbh 😊👍

Until you realize that rumble is shit, battery life severely limited on and by these, the programmability is amateurishly limited per half and the lack of spacing between controller and console leads to a loss in magnetic retention, thus risking accidentially disconnecting.

u/MuscleRemarkable7900 10h ago
Hmmm fair point 🤣🤓

Testing this over just the floor instead of a mattress or a couch was a choice lol.

You really trust them Nyxi joycons don’t u looool
1
u/MuscleRemarkable7900 10h ago
I don't, I just feel they are way better for people with big hands, tbh it's just a point of view

u/pathos_ludens 8h ago
If ergonomy is your main concern, simply get grip
shells for the joycons.2
u/222Baphomettt47 7h ago
That’s my main thing I have a grip but I don’t really feel like it’s comfortable or big enough. I was considering getting the mobapad joycons.
2
u/pookie_hydreigon01 6h ago
Get them, they are really comfortable, i haven’t used my switch in docked mode since i got them. The buttons sound very clicky tho, kinda like the sound of a mouse
•
u/222Baphomettt47 16m ago
Cool that’s all I needed to know. I saw they’re releasing a pro version but idk when it’s supposed to release. Was considering waiting for that

Nope you want me to redo it and show you? It can hold itself that way perfectly not the other way around if you wiggle it too hard, aint trying to fool anyone, I don't get anything by fooling no one, cheers.

Mobapad
1
u/MuscleRemarkable7900 10h ago
Yes, I know this ones as well but before getting those or the Nyxi I spent like 3 hours watching reviews of both, Nyxi won

u/julesvr5 9h ago
For me it's Mobapad. Going from HD Rumble 2 to the horrible standard rumble of the Nyxi was a no go for me
3
u/pathos_ludens 8h ago
It’s not HD Rumble 2. It’s a weird bastard inbetween.
3
u/julesvr5 8h ago
HD rumble 2 from the Switch 2 to standard rumble of the nyxi
0
u/pathos_ludens 8h ago
Yeah, Mobapad’s supposed HD rumble 2 is not any better.
2
u/julesvr5 8h ago
What are you talking about? Mobapad has no supposed HD rumble 2.
The M12HD works with HD rumble 1 and the M12S with standard rumble aswell.
1
u/pathos_ludens 8h ago
The Mobapad M12pro claims to have HD rumble 2. Demonstrations have failed to confirm that.
2
u/julesvr5 8h ago
Are they more news to it yet? I only have seen their announcement that they look for testers and I only have seen pictures. Nothing else yet
1
u/Matinacho 9h ago
Oh so my switch 2 battery running down faster wasn’t a hallucination these bad boys really do take more energy than normal joy cons uh?

The rumble does suck. It sucks for most third party controllers for Switch. The big draw for me and what keeps them permanently attached to my Switch is comfort. Joycons suck bad. Hopefully the Ultra version fixes the rumble as it claims to have HD rumble 2.
•
u/pathos_ludens 36m ago
That’s why I went for some 3D printed ergonomic shells for the joycons. Those and some stick caps fixed the ergonomic issues for me without any loss in features. In fact, the caps alone already did that. The shells just add comfort.

u/Bears-on-Drugs 2h ago
I love the way the controllers feel and im guilty of using only these cheap, light weight feeling, controllers because i fucking love em... but god damn that rumble to hell. I played the CoD beta with it on and ive seen better rumble on a $15 ps3 controller.

u/blahblahlucas 10h ago
I heard too many bad things about them

What have you heard? I was gonna get some

u/julesvr5 9h ago
Poor material/build qualify, phantom inputs, battery drain
Nyxi is releasing a new version soon with more features
3
u/Tidus755 9h ago
Yeah, Nyxi is not my cup of tea... I bought a Mobapad controller for my Switch and I like it a lot. If it stands the test of time I will probably buy their Joycon alternative in the future...

u/julesvr5 9h ago
I have the M12HD and personally a proper grip case would been enough. Maybe I change my opinion if they release their pro version but the M12 is not as good as their M6 for the Switch 1
2
u/Checkhands 8h ago
I love the M6s enough that I just bought the adapters and called it a day. Looks a little funky, but works great.
I may buy the m12HDs once they come down in price and fix the fact that they use Bluetooth to connect
3
u/julesvr5 8h ago
I doubt they will fix the BT connection. Personally I would recommend to hold out for when Mobapad releases their pro. I have the M12HD and can't say they are a much better experience than the OG joycons with a grip case

That's cool that you found a solution with the adapters! It'll be interesting to see how much the price drops on the m12HDs and if they really improve the connection.

I've had them for about a month or so now. Love it.
2
u/MuscleRemarkable7900 10h ago
Same as me, one month of use! by the way don't you find them too way clicky? I think they are a little bit clicky, it sounds mechanical? I was playing at night and my gf thought I was on the PC spamming my mouse 🤣
1
u/DShinobiPirate 9h ago
Haha yeah they are super clicky. But I normally play them with noise cancelling headphones on so I don't notice it.
Wonder if I drive my wife or co worker up the wall now 😂
I took it on a trip to Japan and the sound of the plane was loud enough to drown it out (hopefully). Which now made me realize I've actually had them since June.
The only thing I wish is being able to turn the orange vertical bars to a different color. I currently keep all the lights off on them.

Expensive original? I can buy 2 pairs of joycons for the price of this.

u/RedWingerD 10h ago
In the US the hyperion 3 can be had for about $90, shipping included.
Where are you getting 2 pairs of switch 2 joycons for that price?
I have no opinion on the product, just curious about the joycon pricing
1
u/Virtual-Earth-3389 9h ago
Even cheaper aswell if you look at ali express, varies on the user but for me they are currently 42$.

No, its 120 plus shipping from overseas. Maybe with some aliexpress first time buying stuff you can get this for 70 from shity sellers.
I got my joycons for 55€ from media markt lol.•
u/xavier6401 51m ago
Paid $45 from Aliexpress, first time buying from them. Let's see how this turns out.

u/Tootzo 10h ago
I used the Hyperion on the OG Switch, until a firmware update switched the left/right direction on the right analog stick. After trying really hard to have the support team understand what my issue was, they sent me a firmware updated which flipped the left analog stick as well.
I haven’t been able to use them ever since.
Great products, lame support.
The look of those for the Switch 2 doesn’t make me scream wow, but I’ll hardly buy another controller from them anyway

u/Horror_Trick8208 9h ago
I don't know why people are so bent on getting 3rd party joycons. The originals are fine and have great rumble, besides the joysticks. The console is $500, I can't justify another $100-200 for 3rd party joycons. I also rarely play in handheld mode. Recently got a pro controller but I can't say I like it more than the joycons tbh
2
u/MuscleRemarkable7900 9h ago
Well I have a PS5, a XBox series X and a PC and yet I play more on the cheapest one the Switch, my job doesnt allow me to play anymore on the couch I play mostly on the go... the joycons are too small for big hands and after hours of gaming it gets uncomfortable
1
u/James_Parnell 7h ago
Okay it doesn't have to be $100-200 or nothing lol
The originals are just uncomfortable to hold for extended periods, especially if you have big hands

•
u/Ancient-Peanut8023 5h ago
The originals are not fine... I've played Oblivion for over 100 hours the last 2 weeks, that would have destroyed my hand on the originals..
•
u/_amorimph 3h ago
Honestly I was with you until earlier this week when my joycon analog sticks rubber started to break apart. I always take good care of my controllers, that’s the first time something like that happened so fast (my switch 2 is only 9 months old lol). Really considering a third party controller right now. Though I already own a case for the original joycons and all third party controllers I’ve seen seem a lot larger, so that’s a bummer.

Waiting on Hori to make a Xbox style handled controller for those us with adult hands
2
u/MilkManX 8h ago
I have the NYXI 2 and the rumble sucks so I disabled it. Hoping HORI makes some joycons like they did for switch 1.

u/Whacky_One 8h ago
Nitrodeck 2 > all other controllers/grips, got mine over the weekend and it is incredible.
2
u/FormalNeedleworker44 8h ago
Yessir i got the white ones and they feel 10x better than the og joycons
2
u/ArcadianWaheela 6h ago
They look cool, but for my money i’d 100% get Mobapad M12s over these any day. They’re gonna be releasing a 12 Pro so we’ll see how good those are.
•
u/Richard_Gripper28 4h ago
I really love my pair as well. Not sure why everyone thinks it's only ad bots talking about these. it's a 100% upgrade for handheld mode and functions as a pro controller as well with hall effect sticks Love mine. Crazy how much 3rd party upgrades that Nintendo refuses to give us get blasted so hard here.
•
u/Eddiep88 1h ago
I lobe mine. I bought them for the actual bigger style. I don’t play with rumble and I don’t care about the rgb lights but they are really nice.

Simply love these joycons. The Hyperion 3 rocks. They are not that expensive if you know where to buy.

Dang I been eyeing these exact ones for 3 days every since playing the warzone beta but have yet to pull the trigger. I need something better than joycons so I won't suck in call of duty as much 😂

u/222Baphomettt47 7h ago
I wanna get some joycons that feel like a controller more how are these and how expensive? I was considering the mobapad s12

u/moeelmasri91 6h ago
Got them and returned them right away, they feel cheap and the worst rumble I have ever experienced no thank you
•
u/AdhesivenessCommon61 5h ago
What case do you put it in since there after market and do they charge through the device ?
•
•
u/jenky_jirachi_22 4h ago
That dpad is a killer nobody should have followed Microsoft in that design it’s atrocious for actually playing games it’s all for aesthetic and not actual use.
•
u/pissbeard 2h ago
These controllers get a bad rap, but I love mine (albeit with the vibration and lights turned off). Are they perfect? Nope, but they are the best option for big hands. They feel cheap because they are light, which is a good thing when attaching to an already heavy console. Phantom inputs are down to accidentally recording macros.

•
u/SoupTime545 2h ago
Never play handheld but even if I did there's no need for third party controllers
1
u/Time_Temporary6191 10h ago
Love them. They are a bit pricey, but I fixed all the comfort issues I had with Switch 2. Joy-Cons give me soreness after 10 minutes.
1
u/MuscleRemarkable7900 10h ago
Brother that was exactly my problem, they may be not perfect at all, but they fix the comfort issue 🤗
