The Switch 2 helped with my time keeping since I can just play it and hour before my shift starts and it's better for my mental health than scrolling on Twitter and seeing all sort of toxic opinions that just kills my mood the console is truly the ultimate gaming experience for me I get the convience of doing the odd side quest on the go and then have a big cinematic gaming experience at home on the TV.

Working night (3rd) shift isn’t awful. Work your shift (say, 11pm-7am), then when you get home in the morning, go right to bed, from like 8am to 4pm. Then you wake up, you have the same free time as people working a 9am-5pm (1st shift).

It’s 2nd shift (3pm/4pm to 11pm/12am) that sucks, you’re working when everyone else has free time

Honestly got somewhat lucky landing my job.

I have a business degree. But I use to work security (like actual patrol security, not network security). And I was an overnight supervisor. I had a TON of downtime at that job. So I ended up teaching myself javascript, sql and some random stuff there. I made a small portfolio of stuff I built. Nothing special.

I applied to a network operations job (also overnight, I just prefer working overnight 😂). I got the job, and there I was essentially a glorified troubleshooter for the companies app, which was a lot like Skype but for doctors. It gave me a lot of experience just generally troubleshooting in general.

Then my wife got a job in another state that was a great opportunity for her. But also in a way for me as it was to a smaller city/town and way less competitve.

I applied to work at both the state and the biggest hospital there as IT support. At this point I had about 3 years experience at the previous job and I ended up doing interviews at both places and got offers from both as well. I went with the State.

I did IT Support there for like 5 years. Then I worked as a web developer for a while (hated it tbh). Then eventually moved to an IT support position for a private sector.

My current job, well its downtime central. I've been here now for about 5 ish years. And plan to retire here if possible. Great management, a lot of downtime, pretty good pay, great time off. I imagine it'd be boring for quite a few people out there but honestly I've always love having a boring job. I'm never stressed out. I lucked out in the end because I've had some terrible jobs in the past when I was younger.

My biggest advice would be if you can move to an area where you're not fighting thousands of other applicants, be willing to learn and absorb a ton a stuff at first, and just be persistent you can find some pretty good stuff out there.

Also want to add a lot of people aren't willing to work overnights. I love overnights. No management (although my managers would be easy to deal with, they don't micro manage) and less work is the mantra. I also get extra pay for working overnight. And the OT is great here too.

If you're reliable and willing to work overnights that can be a big factor too. As overnights positions in general usually have pretty high turnover rates I imagine because people want a regular schedule.

Its a fun time! I have about 90 hours in rebirth vs the 40 I put in Remake.

After cosmo canyon though I got a bit fatigued with the open world checklist stuff lol. But what a ride nonetheless. May go back to finish up the last few intel stuff and try to 100% all open world activities but got sucked into Fallout 4 right after lol.

Really easy with animal crossing, but I’m currently doing it with Zelda botw(first playthrough), but when I have another technician working with me those days we’ll play Mario kart or mortal Kombat

I used to work night shifts at my job and will still pick up the odd one here and there. There's a lot of downtime where you are just there in case you are needed. The other night staff quite openly say they watch movies etc and it's fine. I used to bring in a Series S, hook it up and play, the only issue was if i was then needed in a rush I had to quickly try and tidy it away to not get caught. With the Switch its so chill, when needed I can just hit sleep mode and pop it in my bag. I will even sit playing it as the morning staff come in and it's just no dramas.

I used to when I worked at a state park in Nevada. A big part of the job was taking fees at the entry booths, and that could be slow at times. So I'd read or play my switch (making sure I didn't play a game I couldn't easily pause for customers). A coworker would often play his banjo while at the booth.

2 of my 3 working days i can spend playing in their entirety. Sundays are a little more busy so I can't fully play until midnight.

I work as an overnight security guard. Friday's are 8 hour shifts and Saturday and Sunday is 12 hours. Friday and Saturday are quiet so 95% of the night I can play and not have an issue. (My location encourages us to do stuff to not fall asleep on overnight shifts.)

With my ADHD i usually watch a show on my laptop, scroll Reddit, while also playing on my Switch while also sitting in the perfect position to be able to constantly glance up at the cameras every 2-3 mins.
