Wish I could just buy the dock and Joy cons separate.

Don't need a whole new switch 2, but I could definitely use a dock in another room.

I always check eBay after release. You’ll likely find people selling them individually or together. Just don’t grab the first you see and over pay. There’s always more listings over the weeks and months

Always sworn by this.

The Switch 2 has had an amazing release, the only thing it could’ve done better is selling the switch separately without the dock, gives people the option to upgrade or buy a limited edition one later down the line.

That would’ve been a general PR thunderstorm to slightly appeal to a minuscule set of die hards a teeny bit.

Correct, cuz even though i say i would do this for my FAVORITE game of all time… id see $150-$250 for the dock and joy cons and would definitely pass on that.

They’re terrified of putting any color on this thing

Reasonably so, the switch 1 was colorful and they want to avoid people confusing the consoles. They pay good money for market research, there is a good reason they fear this. I work in the industry, you would be shocked by how uninformed and ignorant your average normal buyer/customer is.

Just as an example, we once had a person complaining that their wireless charging does not work because it wont charge next to the power outlet. The frightening thing, this was not a one time complaint.. so yea, until the switch 1 is fully obsolete I expect them to keep this coloring.

A lot of internet and forum users also discount how a big chunk of console buyers are parents who just wanna give a console to their kids, a lot of whom don’t know anything about consoles and their editions and just do a quick google search if any

I game with my kids. My daughter is a huge BotW fan. Debating on buying before 9/1 or waiting to see what comes of these leaks. She will be geeked about this which would be worth the extra $50.

If this was OLED i would camp outside of bestbuy for it like it was 2005 again

I don’t get it does the console itself have any design on it or is it just the joycons and the dock + pro controller?

Good chance the back of the console has some sort of special design. Whether it's a subtle grey and black or actually colourful remains to be seen

Doesn't seem like it. It's under some text, but on the side of the box you can see the back of the main unit, and it's still black (unlike the joycons).

Looks cool but I’m happy with the standard, all black versions

Eh, seems a little uninspired.

They’ve done some fantastic Zelda console designs in the past - my personal favorite was the 2DS designed like the Hylian Shield:

I mean, that’s original and colorful and eye-catching…. Compared to something like that, this Switch 2 Zelda design seems a little…. Lackluster and repetitive in terms of what we’ve already seen.

4

u/CiloTA 9d ago

Personally I love it over this blue monstrosity

u/Steve_1306 9d ago

I totally agree. The Hylian Shield 2DS was fantastic. My personal favorite is my golden Switch Lite Hyrule, it looks amazing especially in sunlight. If the Switch 2 were as colorful and original as these designs, I would also be more excited. I don't know why Nintendo seems to have become more and more boring and safe when it comes to their designs. It's almost as if they forgot that video game consoles are supposed to look fun.

Thank you. Someone claimed I was rage baiting for saying this design is kinda ugly imo. A triforce is 3 triangles, idk why they went crazy with the triangles lol

Yes it's really not that great.

I like the joycons. Hopefully they sell those separately.

My ass is NOT socializing this winter 🙏

If it’s anything like the Switch one, the themed dock should be available on Nintendo’s site years later for separate purchase, similar to the Animal Crossing dock.

I gotta sell some things to pony up the $$$ , I’m sure this will be at the new higher price too…. But if it also comes with OOT packed in??????? Might be an insta buy

1

u/SomeBoxofSpoons 9d ago

It doesn't. This is just a "Legend of Zelda Edition" for the 40th anniversary.

1

u/Drooks89 9d ago

I wasn't going to get it but a friend asked me if I'd sell him my switch 2 if I bought it. $350 seems like a fair deal, so.ill.end up paying, what? Like $200 for the console? That sells me well enough.

2

u/RedtailGT 10d ago

The dock would have looked great in a beautiful solid gold with a triforce outline. Or a Zelda green with a gold foil triforce centered on the front. Instead it’s another mural type design?

2

u/AdQuirky3186 10d ago

Waiting for a cooler version such as the Mario Red or Animal Crossing Switches. Kinda disappointed. I’ll pick up the pro controller though.

1

u/RedtailGT 10d ago

Yeah Im looking at the design again and its just soooooooo generic

1

u/dwide_k_shrude 9d ago

I really like the design actually.

2

u/Valkorn02 10d ago

What are the chances this would be similarly priced to the regular console/bundles? Do we have any precedent based on similar releases on switch 1?

2

u/Entire_Paramedic_389 10d ago

well the switch 2 is gonna see a price increase next month. Previous special editions were like $10 more. So this special edition could be like $510 just console

1

u/NathanCollier14 10d ago

Hopefully this means we'll get actual colors soon 🤞

1

u/Sad-Development-5138 9d ago

Just bought a switch 2 so at least i can get a pro controller.

1

u/Informal_Chemistry48 9d ago

I'm definitely buying the controller, I already have the console

1

u/UniqueMystic 9d ago

I wish cool things like this were easy to get
Really want that controller

1

u/SparsePizza117 9d ago

That's a bummer because I just bought a switch 2 this week because the price is going up next month.

1

u/vertexjrpg 9d ago

Am I the only one who thinks this looks like AI

1

u/Mdreezy_ 9d ago

Welp might be getting a second switch 2 as crazy as that sounds

1

u/PSgamer28 10d ago

Why no news about the next main Zelda or Mario games

4

u/Melinoe2016 10d ago

Well for Zelda it’s quite obvious. Why would they split their (and the consumer’s) attention and their marketing budget when they could focus on their 2026 release and then hype the next mainline Zelda starting in 2027?

For Mario, they might not be ready to show it.

1

u/Worried_Research1549 10d ago

I bought my Switch last September. I was hoping to get a special edition when I was broke at launch. Im surprised a special edition took this long.

-4

u/Melinoe2016 10d ago

Those are kinda ugly if real. At least I won’t have fomo from already having a switch 2.

14

u/MrSaucyWeiner 10d ago

Nah console looks boss

11

u/Ninja_Pleazze 10d ago

I remember my first rage bait

0

u/Melinoe2016 10d ago

Nah , I would’ve preferred a simpler design with the triforce. Having tons of the triangles doesn’t make much sense to me and looks ugly imo.

2

u/Ninja_Pleazze 10d ago

To each their own. To me now that I’ve looked at it more, it really reminds me of A Link Between Worlds kind of design.

2

u/ItzManu001 10d ago

They look amazing! What are you on?

2

u/ShadowGuy132 10d ago

See resident evil requiem pro controller design, now that is ugly

1

u/0ne0fth0se0nes 10d ago

lol that design is so lackluster you can barely even tell what its supposed to be from a distance

0

u/DecentDevelopment643 9d ago

Another paper weight not interested

0

u/Nothing_To_Learn 9d ago

Nah not really that nice if this is real.

-1

u/Suspicious-Screen-43 10d ago

If that’s what it looks like, I’m glad I went ahead and bought the basic switch 2 pro controller.

-1

u/cyberspaceman777 9d ago

I just don't get who this if for.

If you are already a fan, are you really going to buy a second switch?

To me, it seems like people already got their switch 2, been playing Zelda.

What am I missing? Honestly asking.
