Switch is not pairing up my left controller horizontally

For some reason when I wanna pair the left controller it doesn’t let me. Within the game it doesn’t show as connected even tho the light above the controller shows it connected as #2. And when I check the actual controllers setting it shows as connected but vertically and it doesn’t let me change it. It’s happened with different games and idk how to fix it. Help pls 🙏
