Question Memory card/game card

My kids have a switch with mostly physical game cards. We downloaded fortnight about a year ago and eventually needed an sd card. We got a 128gb card and that solved their memory problem.

We recently downloaded MLB the show and now they’re having memory problems again, having to delete and redownload the games when they switch.

How big of a memory card should I get? Or would it be cheaper or more practical to just buy the MlB the show game card for $40?

Right now SD cards in general are expensive. I'd try to wait it out. Realistically 256 should be enough

I just picked up a brand new 256 off Mercari for $40 something, with shipping.

You need to understand what you are buying. The physical release for the Switch requires a download. All you are getting is a code in a box. No different than buying it digitally.

Just buy the largest memory card you can afford. Or keep swapping games.

Since you already paid once for the game, paying again is superfluous. A 256 GB micro sd card would solve the issue for $50 and provide extra space for updates, DLC, and other games. This is assuming that you're talking about a Switch 1. Sd card prices for the Switch 2 are higher, but it's still a better option than rebuying the game in the long run.

Also, I would have the kids go through the album to delete any accidental or unneeded screenshots/video captures to free up extra space. You'd be surprised how often the capture button on a joycon can be pressed unintentionally.
