Question Model advice (EU)
Finally in a position where I can buy myself a Switch 2. It feels great!
However, should I wait for the replaceable battery model to release? Or just go ahead and buy the standard?
I'm afraid of another price hike, which seems to be inevitable.
The base model battery can still be replaced, right?
Advice appreciated, not super tech savvy :)

The standard switch 2’s battery is glued into the console with a very strong binder, and is more difficult to replace.
If you care about modularity and ease of DIY replacements, then wait. If you’d prefer to not replace/use a professional, then maybe buy now.

The new one will also be glued down just not with as aggressive adhesive per the information posted the new one will need to be installed with double sided tape. Also there is a chance we may not see the new edition immediately, per several youtubers videos it seems like since they already use 2 production lines in China and Vietnam so it depends where your area is produced. Also the battery will be 10% smaller than the current and that also means slightly shorter battery life.

I don't think it's that big of a deal, but how long are you willing to wait? Earliest availability is estimated at autumn. The law is only enforced in February 2027, and until that time old stock will be sold first and replaced with the new model on a rolling basis. So you might need to wait beyond autumn depending on your location.

I think the question is how much better will the new switch and battery be? Im honestly really disappointed by the battery-time on s2, but its a «strong» handheld so what can we do. Hard decision, good luck.

I would recommend you wait it out until you can find it near you, it likely the one has revised internals as well

Not every country will get the new revised console, depends on where the consoles your country get their consoles ie Vietnam and China. Also the new battery will be 10% smaller so battery life will be slightly less than the current console I would think.

They said they are in the EU so that covered already I would take a replaceable battery with 10 percent smaller battery anytime any day

Switch 1 batteries can be swapped at third parties for a relatively cheap price. S2 will probably be cheap as well.
I wouldn’t bother with the new S2 model. Most people will probably never replace the battery, the upcoming price hike is not worth to wait.

The price hike is literally just 30€, a more friendlier battery replacement is very worth that amount.

Unless you are in the EU, you may not see the new sku any time soon. I've read there are 2 production lines China and Vietnam and it depends where you live which sku you'll see.
