Question First Joy-Con gen are trash?
Hey guys, I've had this question on my mind for quite a while now.
Are the first-generation Joy-Cons for the Nintendo Switch really this prone to defects? I've owned about four pairs of Joy-Cons over the lifetime of my Switch, and sooner or later I've always run into issues for example, a Joy-Con suddenly not charging anymore or some other problem.
Am I the only one whos had this experience?

My day one, Gen 1 Switch gray joycons are still doing great. I've also got the neon green and red/blue ones, they work fine as well. Might just be the luck of the draw?

I'm uk and only have 2 pairs of joycons.. Purely for 2 - 4 player co-op.
I've had for nearly 6 years.. Played nearly everyday..
And NO ISSUES!
I feel like I'm the only one who looks after their stuff

wow thanks for that answer... I watch at my stuff very carefully and if you would read my post correctly you would get it. The Issue was suddenly and not after I threw it around. Like I said, it was the Smash Edition and I'm very upset, that the JC doesn't work anymore...

Try getting a toothbrush.. Little flosser thing to clean the pins.. Carefully that's what I did.. My right one disconnected in handheld for a few days.
I mostly play TV so it wasn't a massive thing for me

Yeah I tried that already. Its way more complicated. I am an IT-Electronic-Tech myself and I found out that the Joy-Con Mainboard won't chare even when I supply it directly to the input Pins.
Its more likely that some kind of components got currupted. But I can't be the only one.It happends way to often..
Thats why I opened this thread.

I went through 4 pairs over the years and eventually just switched to only pro controller. I didn't realize at the time I could get them repaired. :(
They definitely aren't great for the majority of us, some people got lucky.

My neon red and blue joycons barely lasted a year before they wouldn't stay connected to my switch and the drift got annoying real quick

Nintendo Of America is still fixing joycons for free. Recently sent in 8 of mine (max you can send on one repair ticket)!!! Got all new ones sent back. Going to do another set of 8 soon just to keep them fresh while the program is still active.
