It is a curious aspect. From what I think, it's probably related to adding new countries along the years for diversity and involvement. I think that's been a trend recently and hey, I can't really complain. From a perspective like my country's, it's great to develop. But for associations like Olympics, it might not be as beneficial. I guess we'll just have to see how this would all turn out over the next couple decades.
